Hopefully it gets a little warmer as we intend to open the school pool for class swimming on Monday 23rd November. Your child’s home base communication will be able to tell you what days your child/ren's swimming time will be. The pool will open this Monday 16th November for community members who were successful in the pool key ballot and who have completed a pool induction with Heather our caretaker. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Principal Ginnie Chapman (nee Warren) on her wedding at the weekend. The St Albans students and staff came together to make this wonderful image of a heart, complete with staff wearing veils. This caused much surprise and excitement for the children. We know Ginnie and Hugh felt the love, warmth and support from us all here at St Albans. A special thank you to one of our school parents Sander Murray for flying his drone to capture this wonderful image. NEW CLASSROOM We are very excited to announce the beginning of the new classroom project. Site preparation begin this Monday 16th November. This will involve the establishment of the construction zone whereby fences will be used to define the building area. To ensure the safety of our tamariki a fence will be erected from the U (building area) to the gates at the end of the two storey building (see map). This will mean there will be no access for tamariki and whānau through the gates between the two storey block and the staff car park. These will be shut until further notice. Where possible, the majority of works will be Hutia te rito o te harakeke, kei hea te kōmako e kō? If you pull out the centre shoot of the flax plant, where will the bellbird sing?
carried out, outside school hours. There will be a gated access way in the middle of the fencing to allow tamariki and whānau to access both sides of the school. The completion of this project is mid-February 2021. TERM PLANNER This term is starting to get very busy with many events coming up. Below is a list of dates to help you plan ahead.
