The Royal Melbourne Show Woodchop Championships has featured at the Show for more than 100 years, providing champion and handicap woodchoppers an opportunity to compete for a share in more than $125,000 in cash and prizes across more than 50 events including tree-felling, standing block, underhand, sawing and teams relay and racing.

NEW IN 2019 The Royal Melbourne Show Woodchop Championships are a feature event of the Show. With nine huge days of competition taking place in the purpose built Woodchop Pavilion, competitors from across the world will gather to compete in over 50 classes. This year, with more cash and prizes up for grabs, more events on offer and the addition of a World Championship, the competition will be bigger than ever! EXCITING NEW CHANGES KEY DATES $125,000 prize pool – the highest ever! Royal Melbourne Show: 21 September – 1 October, 2019 This year axe men and women from all over Australia and Entries Open: Friday 5 April, 2019 the world, will battle it out for their share in $125,000 worth of cash and prizes. Entries Close: 5pm, Friday 31 May, 2019 New world-class event! The World Tree Felling Championships (300mm) will feature on the Herald Sun Arena as part of the Royal Melbourne Show Woodchop Championships program in 2019. New class offering! In addition to hosting the prestigious Underhand Elimination Championship, we have also included new handicaps in the underhand and standing block events. ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW WOODCHOP CHAMPIONSHIPS IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROCEDURE FOR EXHIBITORS READ THE SCHEDULE Information in this Schedule contains conditions of entry, events and DATES prizes awarded. The Woodchop Championships for the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show will be held from Saturday 21 September through to Sunday 29 September. FINALISATION OF ENTRY FORMS AND FEES Once all competitor entries have been confirmed and finalised, an CLOSE OF ENTRIES Entry Confirmation and Tax Invoice will be sent. Close date for entries is Friday 31 May 2019. REGISTRATION OF EVENT ENTRY FEES The Woodchop Championships are registered with the Central Entry fees are listed against each event. Victorian Axemen's Association Inc. and conducted under the guidance of the Australian Axemen's Association Inc. (AAA) rules. DELIVERY AND COLLECTION OF AXES / AXE BOXES If you are using a vehicle to deliver or collect your axes / axe boxes, HANDICAPPER this must be highlighted on the Competition Entry Form. The RASV's official Handicapper is Allan Draper. An RASV Vehicle Access Pass will be issued and must be displayed on the vehicle dashboard at all times. Please note there will be no exemptions to this rule. EXHIBITOR FUNCTION Delivery: Friday 20 September, between 9:00am and 6:00pm During the Championships, all exhibitors are invited to an informal lunch provided by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria. Vehicles must be off the Showgrounds before 6:00pm Saturday 21 September, between 6:00am and 8:00am DATE: Sunday 22 September Vehicles must be off the Showgrounds before 8:00am TIME: 1:30pm (depending on the day schedule) Collection: Sunday 29 September, between 10:00pm and 11:00pm VENUE: Woodchop Pavilion Vehicles must be off the Showgrounds before 11:00pm Monday 30 September, between 6:00am and 8:00am Vehicles must be off the Showgrounds before 8:00am SUPPORTER PRIZES CATALOGUES Prizes are provided by third parties and the RASV advises that any Catalogues to be pre-purchased via the Competition Entry Form. such Prize may be subject to change or amendment occurring at any time, thereby making the original information published incorrect. GOVERNING RULES The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria Woodchop competition will ENTRY FEES AND RASV be conducted under the Australian Axemen’s Association Inc. (AAA) Rules. These can be found at the AAA’s website: MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT http://www.australianaxemen.org.au As a member of RASV you can receive discount entry fees in the Royal Melbourne Show Woodchop Championships. In order for exhibitors to claim the RASV member discount on entry fees for this competition, membership must be joined or renewed and fully paid before entering this competition, and membership details must be provided during the competition entry. No adjustments will be provided after the entry has been submitted. Members who are not financial at the time of submitting their entry will not be eligible for the entry discount. Join now! Any Competitor found consuming alcohol shall be fined $50 and disqualified from competing or participating that day and at the discretion of the Steward-in-Chief, may be disqualified for the rest of the competition. UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR 36. An immediate fine of $50 is applicable to unacceptable behaviour in the arena and further competition is not allowed until payment of fine. This behaviour includes swearing, temper displays, axe misuse, abuse or obvious disagreements with officials, Committee Members and disagreements with others. 15
