A NOTE FROM THE RACE DIRECTOR Run Fest Port Macquarie celebrating 10 years in 2021 Run Fest Port Macquarie has grown to become a major regional event with over 2,000 participants taking on the various events over the race weekend. Run Fest Port Macquarie serves as the 1st event to kick off the annual fun run calendar. The 2 day format provides various distances and challenges for the whole family plus an attractive short-stay getaway for the many tourists heading to Port Macquarie for the event. The event is staged in the stunning Town Green precinct with courses spanning from Settlement Point Road to Town Beach showing off our stunning foreshore areas. Take your pick from the events on offer and prepare to #RunHappy. Make a weekend of it! Kick off your Run Fest weekend on Saturday 6th March at our local parkrun events. Run Fest weekend will officially start at Midday with the Team Holborow Kids 3km fun runs. In 2021 the kids fun runs will be timed and split into age categories - start times from Midday – 4pm. The festivities on the Saturday will conclude with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation 3km #RunSweatInspire. This also acts as the try outs for the IMP (Indigenous Marathon Project). If you’re up for the Buster in 2021, gunning for a PB, completing a new challenge or to simply just #RunHappy, we have 4 events to choose from on Sunday 7th March. Events on Sunday are Half Marathon, 10km and 5km. Alternatively, you can take on the Essential Energy Treble Breakwall Buster where you are challenged to complete the Half Marathon + 10km + 5km events. The combined distance of the Buster is 36.1km and includes 6 laps up and back along the iconic Port Macquarie Breakwall. The Breakwall Buster is a fantastic challenge for the seasoned fun runner or a fantastic hit out if you are looking to step up to running a marathon. In addition all finishers names will be added to the Treble Breakwall Buster Honour Roll. 2020 was a tough year with wide scale event cancellations due to COVID-19, our event team is working to put on a safe and fun event for all to enjoy. Our motto for participants this year is to Prepare, #RunHappy and then Explore Greater Port Macquarie. We aim to put on an awesome event in a safe way that protects participants and our volunteer event crew whilst also giving our local economy the boost that it desperately needs. Thank you to our event partners and volunteer crew that support Run Fest Port Macquarie, without your support, events like this could not operate. To all those participating I wish you all the best of luck. If you’re visiting, I encourage you to stay, support local businesses and experience all that Greater Port Macquarie has to offer. RACE WEEKEND SCHEDULE Registration • Complete online entry form • Online entry will close on Thursday 4th March 2021 (unless filled prior) • Collect your race pack from check-in which contains your timing chip/bib number and merchandise that you may have ordered • STRICTLY NO RACE KIT PICK UP AVAILABLE ON SUNDAY 7TH MARCH 2021 • Pick up times at the Zebu Room, Rydges Hotel: - Friday 5th March 2021 from 3pm – 7pm - Saturday 6th March 2021 from 8am – Midday and 1pm – 5pm • Please adhere to social distancing rules at all times when collecting your race kit and follow the instructions of our event crew and volunteers at all times. • All participants will be required to complete the event COVID check-in before picking up race kit, and on race day prior to your event. • An email will be sent to all registered participants 1 week prior to the event with event updates and any specific information relating to race kit pick up. • Pick up your race kit early. PREPARE #RUNHAPPY EXPLORE Greater Port Macquarie So you are “prepared” for race day, the team from Inspire Motion have put together training programs for each event to get you to the start line mentally ready, injury free and physically prepared to run. These programs aim to keep you on track and provide guidance as to what you should be thinking about as the race weekend approaches. Download them from the bottom of the RunFest.com.au landing page... it’s never too late to start training! Prepare to #RUNHAPPY • Check out the event info at www.PortMacquarieRunningFestival.com.au • Choose your event and complete your entry form • Purchase your event merchandise. This will be available to collect with your race bib race weekend • Like our Facebook page to get important updates • Map out your training plan and set your goal to #RunHappy at #PMRF2021 - Don’t cram and leave your training till the last week • Book your accommodation early • Practice your race day routine • Read the race briefing There may not be any high fives, you may need to grab your own water cup from the course drink station and most definitely won’t be any post run hugs… but we won’t let that take the #RunHappy vibe away from the event. Race weekend will be contactless wherever possible and measures will be in place to ensure that social distancing is adhered to prior to starting your event, during and after crossing the finish line. You’ll need to show the safety marshal your completed check-in before being allowed to enter. Please follow instructions of the event team at all times. Race Weekend #RUNHAPPY • STRICTLY NO RACE KIT PICK UP AVAILABLE ON SUNDAY 7TH MARCH • Prepare your pre-run nutrition and hydrate • COMPLETE THE SERVICE NSW COVID EVENT CHECK IN PRIOR TO THE START OF YOUR EVENT • Enter the starting area on the corner of the Town Square taking into account the rolling start wave times. You will not be able to enter this area if you have not completed the event covid safe check in. Spectators will not be allowed to enter the starting area • Race morning Treble Runners (only) can enter the Treble Breakwall Buster Interchange from 6am to drop off supplies to be accessed between events. If you have not completed the event covid safe check-in you will not be able to access this space • Prior to your event, assemble in the Town Square and listen to PMRF event crew instructions • Seed yourself in the applicable starting wave • Don’t rush across the start line, you will have at least 15 mins to cross the timing mat. All events finishing positions will be based on net time… from the time you cross the start line till when you cross the finish line. • Walk to and through, the start line observing the distancing measures in place • Use the hand sanitiser at the start area entry point and at drinks stations • Keep your distance on the course 1.5m apart where possible. • There will be no pace runners this year as we are not encouraging crowding • Course drink stations will be contactless and will have water and Endura available • When you have completed your event keep moving, veer left, grab a drink and see the first aid crew should you require assistance.
