A reminder that YRDSB is not allowing changes between models as per the Director of Education’s e-mail which accompanied the survey back in November. We ask all students and families to ignore what they see as semester 2 timetable in My Blue Print as it is outdated. We also ask all students and families for your patience as the school follows YRDSB timelines to recreate semester 2 timetables. Neither guidance nor school admin can address any concerns at this time as we need to recreate the semester 2 student timetables. As per YRDSB timelines to all high schools, semester 2 timetables will be shared with students later this month and there will be opportunity for student course change. We thank you for your continued support and patience. Mr. Cherry, Mr. Lim, and Ms. Mitchell General Information School building is closed and scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, February 10. The deadline to apply to Ontario Colleges through ontariocolleges.ca is February 1, 2021. Due to COVID-19, the community involvement graduation requirement has been reduced to a minimum of 20 hours of community involvement activities. In addition, the literacy graduation requirement has been waived for all students graduating during the 2020-21 school year. Please note: these modified graduation requirements (C.I. & Literacy) will not be reported as complete on OUAC until June 2021 when all other graduation requirements have been met (i.e. 30 credits earned). This will NOT prevent you from applying or receiving offers of admission to your programs of choice. Students can book a virtual meeting with their guidance counsellor on Teach Assist for support with applying to post-secondary institutions. 3 Yearbook Club THE 2020 - 21 YEARBOOK – “TOGETHER, 6 FEET APART” By Luca Rampersad, for the RGSS Yearbook Club The unavoidable consequences of this pandemic have, thus far, elicited massive changes in the typical routine of high school life; courses are shifting to adaptive and virtual models, sports teams are mostly cancelled, and clubs that are continuing operations have migrated to Zoom and Google Meet. However, as the world reinvents itself all around us, there are some things that just can’t change. Where there are still stories to be told, where there are still people to celebrate, and where there is still school spirit to show off, the RGSS Yearbook must be there to remind students of the awesome memories made amidst this especially challenging time. That is why we are pleased to announce that the 2020-21 Yearbook is now AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE! Students in the Yearbook Club and the AWD3M course are designing, writing, taking pictures and interviewing nonstop to make sure that this year’s book is as creative and as representative of this crazy year as possible! You can find the RGSS 2020-21 Yearbook tab on School Cash Online right now. The book is $45.00, and sales will continue until February 28th, 2020. No yearbooks will be up for sale after that date, so remember to get your payments in! From RGSS Model UN’s successes in national-level debate, to the immeasurably hard work our teachers put in to adapt entire courses for online classes, there are still so many memories and accomplishments which are making this chapter in our world’s history at least a little bit more manageable. We sincerely hope that you consider purchasing our Yearbook and keeping the tradition alive! In next week’s issue of the Bulletin, we’ll be releasing the cover art of this year’s Yearbook – stay tuned for that! Best wishes from the Yearbook Team!
