SPECIAL COVID-19 MESSAGE First Friday art openings will resume on April 2 from 5-7 p.m. with mask wearing mandatory and social distancing in effect. The Arts Center continues to be open every day with CDC regulations in effect. BILL WOLFF COFFEE WITH BILL FREE ON ZOOM, FRIDAY, APRIL 9 AT 10 A.M. Grab a cup of coffee and sit down with Bill Wolff, our 2021 Orem & Robinson Fellow for Contemporary Art and Community Engagement. Wolff will speak about his work, what inspires him, his art processes, his plans for his fellowship year, and the new sculpture studio he set up at Salisbury University. There is no charge to attend, and the public is invited. The fellow has opportunities to exhibit their work, build new audiences, and engage with the community. “We are excited to continue this fellowship for a third year, thanks to Laura Jenkins, who has endowed this position in memory of her parents,” Rina Thaler, executive director, said. Wolff, who lives in Salisbury, is associate chair of the Art Department and head of the sculpture program at Salisbury University. He works primarily in wood, metal, and installation. Bill lived in Japan as a Monbukagakusho scholar and received a MA in wood sculpture. He also taught 3D design at the Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as teaching as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Rochester. ASH’IZ LUNCH & LEARN WITH ASH’IZ FREE ON ZOOM, TUESDAY, MAY 11 AT NOON We are proud to announce that poet and author Ash’iz will fill our new fellowship for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Ash’iz uniquely mixes alternative health with spoken word poetry that revives, reveals, and brings a rebirthing that heals. Off-stage, Ash’iz is an Alternative Health Crystal Practitioner and Executive Director of the nonprofit Beauty 4rm (pronounced “from”) Ashiz Movement Inc. She shares her story with others through her debut book, “A Piece of Me, Brings Peace to Me.” Join Ash’iz for a free interactive discussion on Tuesday, May 11 at noon on Zoom. Learn how she constructs poetry, uses crystals to heal, and about her journey as an artist. There is no charge to attend, and the public is invited.
