HOW THE Y CAN HELP YOU BALANCE WORK AND FAMILY Don’t have time to exercise? Think again. A recent study referenced in the Harvard Business Review blog found that regular exercise, despite requiring a time commitment, actually helps improve your work/life balance. “First, and least surprisingly,” says researcher Russell Clayton, “exercise reduces stress, and lower stress makes the time spent in either realm more productive and enjoyable... A reduction in stress is tantamount to an expansion of time.” In other words, even though exercise might seem like just another thing on your plate, it actually makes your plate bigger! Clayton stresses, however that the exercise must be planned, structured, repetitive and purposeful. All of these qualities are more easily achieved with the help and support of our YMCA. Through programs and services such as child care, personalized health and fitness programs such as Fit First, Group Exercise and personal training monitored by Y staff, and nutrition and life coaching classes, the Y can assist all members struggling with maintaining a work/life balance, despite their varied challenges. Please use this program as a guide through your health and wellness journey. Our staff is here to help you achieve your goals! See you at the Y!
