Players are introduced to the game of baseball in a simple and enjoyable fashion. Children will have the opportunity to learn their way from home plate around all the base paths. The season consists of games that last three innings. The players will be hitting the ball from a tee and defending their positions. All players will receive a sportsmanship award at the end of the season and each player will receive a team hat and shirt. PLAYERS MUST ALSO HAVE THEIR OWN HELMETS. We would like to welcome David Cole to our Children’s Coed Summer Tennis Program: David Cole is the Varsity Boys Tennis Coach at Beachwood High School and the Varsity A Girls Coach at Mayfield High School. David coached the Beachwood Boys Tennis Team to the Final Four of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association State Team Tournament, the only public school boys team to ever qualify. He has also coached several state qualifiers, Boys and Girls, including a Doubles Team that placed 4th in the State. David also helps teach the Youth Clinics at Mayfield Village Racquet Club and teaches private and group lessons there and outside in the summer. REGISTRATION DEADLINES: FRIDAY, MAY 28, 2021 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS: Beginner: 9:00-10:00 AM (All Ages) This class is for players new to the game of tennis. Court assignments are based on age as well as ability. Emphasis is placed on good coordination and an introduction to the forehand, backhand and volley. Intermediate: 10:00-11:00 AM (All Ages) This class is for kids who know the basic skills and rules of tennis. Emphasis will be placed on controlling ground-strokes, introducing the transition game as well as working on continental grip skills. Players will also learn how to hit serves and be introduced to doubles formation and strategy. Advanced Intermediate: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM (All Ages) This class is for new and returning students who choose to play tennis as a recreational summer sport. The class will be based with a fast-paced drill setting and will have occasional feeding as well as directed play. Skills that will be taught include an introduction to topspin, ground-strokes, aggressive net play as well as sound stroke production. Advanced: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM (All Ages) This class is for Varsity level high school players, and/or local and sanc- tioned tournament players. The class features live ball competitive and cooperative drills and focuses on enabling players to work off each other in a non-ball feeding format. Examples of skills that will be covered include poaching in doubles, serve and volley, hitting on the rise, etc. 10

WILDCAT SPORT & FITNESS Facility Highlights WEIGHT & CARDIO ROOM: Located on the second floor, the Weight and Cardio are consists of over 1,800 sq. ft. of exercise space with a mix of cardio and strength-equipment to accommodate a wide-range of participants needs. INDOOR TRACK: The 4-lane indoor track is located on the second floor and loops above the 3 Gym courts and includes areas for warm-up and cool-down. The track measures 1/10 of a mile per lap on the outer 2 lanes, and 1/11 of a mile on the 2 inner lanes. CYCLING ROOM: Located on the second floor. GROUP FITNESS ROOM: Located on the first floor, this is the primary space for yoga, and other group workouts. GYMS: Get active, make new friends, show of your skills or develop new ones by joining a recreational program or attending open gym. Choose from various programs or leagues that are offered in a safe, recreational environment. The facility has 3 courts that can be divided according to needs. Gym space will be available to members and also Recreation Department programs. POOL: Cool off and rejuvenate with some lap swimming and enjoy our 25 yard, 6 lane competition pool with large instructional area. There is also a separate diving well with two 1-meter boards. We offer a variety of classes for all skill levels and interests, from preschool, youth and private swim lessons to adult Aquacise and Deep Water exercise classes.
