Another big change is this year club members. The bar will be open for you to purchase we will not be running the classic meeting (Oldtimers) in refreshments and the Club will be providing supper. Club Captain's Report We are going to have to answer a question sooner or find their isn’t enough people to run it, or you could later, and this is how we want to see our motorsport put your hand up now and say, yep I can help, be the going forward into the future. I’ve been part of this Club answer. It could be as simple as joining a committee, for somewhere around 15 years and in that time events you could help by getting your cotc licence (the bronze have remained relatively the same, Speed events and is very straight forward) and help run the odd speed/ Club race days have had the odd tweak here and there clubsport event. Maybe just waving a flag is more your as the committees or management have wanted to thing? How about a seat in an air conditioned room keep things relevant but by in large they very much timing cars? There are many jobs and they all have look as they did 15 years ago. I guess the concerning great people who are willing to teach the ins and outs part is the people who give their time to a different of each role. aspect of the sport have also remained unchanged. These people are the ones who run these events, who As one season ends the next begins, plenty of events time these events, who audit at these events, who flag to drag the cars out of the garage for; Speed, Club- at these events. We’ve lost a few over the years, some sport ,Nav Rallies and Club Race Day 1 all take place have had to tend to busy lives and some have left to in the next couple of months. Not to forget Prizegiving the great race track in the sky. This is unavoidable, the on the 3rd of August, so please return any trophies problem is that we have very few putting up their hands back to the club asap!! to help fill these spots and this leaves the people left to try and put these events together. On that note with only a few weeks to Prize Giving and an enormous amount of work to do on it I had better Are we a club of like-minded people who enjoy get to it! motorsport? Or are we an organisation whose job it is to provide motorsport? The two are very different, As always, looking forward to seeing you at the Church as a club we should all be helping in a way to keep of Motorsport the wheels turning, as an organisation we would all Jason Smith be paying to keep the wheels turning, and this isn’t #22- Club Captain. a path I’d want to see. If we don’t have people to fill the necessary roles do we need to charge a much higher entry and pay people to run events? Do we run a lesser number of events per season so it takes the load of those who give their time freely? These are some of the questions facing all of us, we could ignore them, and wait till you turn up one day for an event and Situation Vacant Seeking an experienced Mechanic to work in a small, family friendly environment. Come along and get some instructional briefing from some expert competitors who will explain the systems behind their success. Those competitors will then come with you in your car to explain ‘on the road’ why decisions are made, and will help you be more competitive. Navigational Rallying is fun, and cheap, and is a great way to add another motorsport discipline to your arsenal of points scoring opportunities in the club championships. With many events, and relatively few competitors (currently!) you can pick up easy points. Come along and give it a go.
