1 Introduction 1.1 General This publication covers Husqvarna ride-on lawn mowers R 214C model year 2021. Workshop manual are available for models that are no longer sold. 1.2 Document description This manual gives a full description of how to do maintenance and repair on the product. It also gives safety instructions that the personnel must obey. 1.3 Target group This manual is for personnel with a general knowledge of how to do repair and do servicing. All personnel that do repair or do servicing on the product must read and understand the manual. 1.4 Revisions Changes to the product can cause changes to the maintenance work and spare parts. Separate information is sent out for each change. Read the manual together with all received information about changes to maintenance and spare parts for the product. 1.5 Safety WARNING: All personnel that repair or do servicing on the product must read and understand the safety instructions in this workshop manual. 1.6 Servicing tools The manual gives information about necessary servicing tools. 2 Safety 2.1 General safety instructions • Explosive gases can come from the battery. Do not smoke near the battery. 3 Prepare and do servicing on the product 3.1 Pre delivery inspection Complete the sales certificate and the customer records. Write the serial number in the operator's manual and confirm the delivery service in the service book. 8 - Prepare and do servicing on the 1592 - 002 - 11.02.2021 product
4 Assembly 4.1 Battery 4.4 To install the seat Charge the battery at 12V, maximum 3A for 4 hours. 1. Put the seat in the frame. Use a Husqvarna battery charger. Refer to Servicing tools on page 16. 2. Install the 2 screws (A). 4.2 To assemble the steering wheel 1. Install the steering wheel with steering column tube onto the steering column. Select applicable height. A 4.5 To install the hitch 2. Turn the knob clockwise to tighten. To make transportation of the product easier, the hitch is not installed correctly at the factory. 4.3 To adjust height of the steering wheel • Before you operate the product, remove the hitch and attach it in the other direction. WARNING: Do not adjust the height of the steering wheel during operation of the product. 1. Turn the knob counterclockwise to loosen. 4.6 Wheels 2. Adjust the height of the steering wheel. CAUTION: Make sure that the long end of the knob points up. The recommended tire pressure is 0.6 bar / 8.5 PSI on all wheels. 4.7 To remove and attach the cutting deck 1. 4. Release the clip on the front cover with the tool 9. Put a wooden block between the equipment frame attached to the ignition key, and remove the cover. and the chassis. This makes sure that the cutting deck does not spring back when removed. 5. Lift the cutting height stay and put it in the holder for the cutting height stay. WARNING: Be careful. Risk of injury if your hand is caught between the equipment frame and the chassis. 10. Remove the 2 screws on the equipment frame. 6. Pull the spring eye to loosen the spring for the drive belt tension. 11. Hold the front edge of the cutting deck with two hands and pull it out. 7. Put the spring eye in the holder on the tension arm for the drive belt. 12. Remove the wooden block. 8. Remove the drive belt and put it in the belt holder. 13. Attach the cutting deck in opposite sequence. 10 - Assembly 1592 - 002 - 11.02.2021
4.8 To do a check of the parallelism of the 7. The oil level must be between the marks on the cutting deck dipstick. If the level is near the ADD mark, fill oil to the FULL mark. 1. Make sure that the air pressure in the tires is correct. Refer to Wheels on page 9. 2. Park the product on a level surface. 3. Lower the cutting deck to mow position. 4. Set the cutting height lever to the middle position. 5. Measure the distance between the ground and the front and rear edges of the cutting deck. Make sure that the rear edge is 2–4 mm (1/8") higher than the front edge. 8. Fill the oil through the hole that the dipstick sits in. Fill the oil slowly. Note: Refer to Technical data on page 49 for the types of engine oil that we recommend. Do not mix different types of oil. 9. Tighten the dipstick correctly before you start the engine. Start and idle the engine for approximately 30 seconds. Stop the engine. Wait 30 seconds and do a check of the oil level again. 4.10 To do a check of the transmission oil level Note: Do the transmission oil check when the 4.9 To do a check of the engine oil level transmission is cool. 1. Remove the screws, one on each side, and remove the transmission cover. 3. Loosen the dipstick and pull it out. 4. Clean the oil from the dipstick. 5. Put the dipstick back in and tighten it. 6. 3. Make sure that the oil level in the transmission oil tank is between the 2 horizontal lines on the tank. 4. Fill with oil if the oil level is below the lower line, but do not fill above the top line. Refer to Technical data on page 49 for recommended oil. 4.11 To fill fuel WARNING: Gasoline is very flammable. Be careful and refuel outdoors, refer to Special safety instructions on page 4. WARNING: Do not use the fuel tank as a support area. CAUTION: Incorrect type of fuel can result in engine damage. The engine runs on gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 91 RON (87 AKI), not mixed with oil. We recommend biodegradable alkylate gasoline. Do not use gasoline that contains more than 10% ethanol. • Do a check of the fuel level before each use and refuel if it is necessary. • Do not fully fill the fuel tank. Keep a space of a minimum 2.5 cm. 12 - Assembly 1592 - 002 - 11.02.2021
5 Function test 5.1 Operation conditions These conditions are necessary to start the engine: • The parking brake is applied. • The cutting deck is lifted. The engine must stop in these situations: • The parking brake is not applied and the operator lifts from the seat. • The cutting deck is lowered and the operator lifts from the seat. • The cutting deck is lowered, parking brake is not applied and the operator lifts from the seat. Try to start the engine without one of the conditions. Change the conditions and try again. Do this check daily. 1592 - 002 - 11.02.2021 Function test - 13
6 Maintenance schedule for the service center 1. PREPARE THE PRODUCT First serv- Maintenance interval icing in hours 50 100 200 Do a check of the battery. O Do a check of the blades. O Do a check of the belts and pulleys. O O Do a check of the steering chain of the inner side of the frame tunnel. O Do an inspection, lubricate and adjust all wires. O Make sure that all screws and nuts are tightened with the correct torque. O Lubricate the operators seat. O Lubricate the wheels and blade bearings on the cutting deck. O O Lubricate the pedals on the inner side of the frame tunnel. O Lubricate the belt tensioner. O 2. ENGINE First serv- Maintenance interval icing in hours 50 100 200 Do a check of the fuel hose. Replace if it is necessary. O Replace the fuel filter. O Replace the prefilter and paper filter in the air filter. Clean O Clean the engine and the hydrostatic transmission. O Do an inspection of the cooling fins on the hydrostatic transmission. O Do a check of the muffler and the heat deflector. O O Replace the engine oil. Refer to Technical data on page 49. O O Replace the engine oil filter. O O Replace the spark plug. O Do a check of the battery and charge if it is necessary. O O 3. 8.4 Transmission The turning radius with articulated steering is very small. At full lock the circle with grass that is not cut is only 20– The product has a hydrostatic transmission. The Combi Deck operates with BioClip or rear discharge. When the BioClip plug is removed, the cutting deck ejects the grass rearward. 8.5 Steering The product has articulated steering. 9 Repair instructions 9.1 Chassis 9.1.1.4 To remove the left footrest plate • Remove the 4 screws and remove the footrest plate. 9.1.1 To remove the covers 9.1.1.1 To open the engine cover 1. 9.1.1.7 To remove the frame tunnel cover 9.1.3 Seat 1. Remove the 2 screws (A). 9.1.3.1 To adjust the seat The seat can be tilted forward. It can also be adjusted forward and rearward. 6. Remove the ball joint for the speed control (A). 12. Remove the snap ring (A) and washer from the pivoting rear axle and pull off the rear frame. A A B B A 7. Remove the clamp on the speed control cable (B) from the rear frame. 8. Loosen the locknuts (A) and the spring (B). 13. Remove the snap ring and washer from the inner B groove on the pivoting rear axle (B). C A A B 9. Remove the cable from the parking brake lever (C). 10. Remove the snap ring and lift the hydrostatic transmission fan. 14. Pull out the pivoting rear axle from the rear. Use a slide hammer or a puller if it is necessary. 15. Replace the dirt protection (A) if it is damaged. 9.1.6.2 To replace the bushings on the pivoting rear axle CAUTION: When the pivoting rear axle is removed, replace the bushings in the rear frame. 1. Remove the bushings with a drift. Refer to Servicing tools on page 16 11. Remove the rear belt from the idler pulley and 2. Attach the new bushings with a drift. Refer to Servicing tools on page 3. Note: Make sure that the hole on the axle points rearward. 2. Install the washer and snap ring on the front end of the pivoting rear axle. 3. Install the dirt protection approximately ⅔ into the axle. 4. Lubricate the axle on the 2 sides of the dirt protection. 4. Remove the inner snap ring (A) from the lower bearing. 5. Move the rear frame forward and push it onto the pivoting rear axle. 6. Install the washer and snap ring on the pivoting rear axle. B A 7. Install the rear belt. 8. Install the hydrostatic transmission fan. 9. Install the hydrostatic transmission cable. Make sure that the hydrostatic transmission is correctly adjusted. Refer to To adjust the hydrostatic transmission cable on page 36. 5. Remove the spindle. 10. Install the brake cable on two-wheel drive products. 6. Remove the outer snap ring (B) and lift out the lower 11. Install the idler spring. bearing. 12. Install the rear wheels. 7. Lift the top bearing from above. If it is necessary, tap 13. Lower the product the bearing from below. 14. Connect the hydraulic hoses to the couplings below the product. 15. Fill and bleed the hydrostatic transmission system. 9.9.3 To remove the transmission belt 7. Remove the belt guide for the main belt. 1. Lift up the cutting deck. 2. Remove the transmission cover. Refer to To remove the transmission cover on page 19. 3. Remove the snap ring and remove the cooling fan. 4. Disengage the spring on the belt tensioner. 8. Pull the main belt from the engine pulley and put it to the side. 5. Remove the transmission belt from the hydrostatic transmission pulley with a screwdriver and a wrench. 9. Pull the transmission belt off the engine pulley and move it below the engine belt pulley. 6. Remove the engine pulley covers on the left and right side of the product. 10. Pull out the transmission belt through the opening below the pivot bearing and in the direction of the hydrostatic transmission pulley. 9.9.4 To install the transmission belt 1. Pull the transmission belt through the opening below the pivot bearing and in the direction of the hydrostatic transmission pulley. 2. Pull the transmission belt below the engine belt pulley and put it on the engine belt pulley. 44 - Repair instructions 1592 - 002 - 11.02.2021
