Wishes from HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR HIMACHAL PRADESH Acharya Devvrat Ji Gurukul education system awakens one's elemental endowment by shedding acquired prejudice, arrogance, vanity and ignorance thus paves the way for rational consciousness leading to overall development. Gurukul education system nourishes the innate virtues such as honesty, humility, self- reliance, benevolence, gratitude for nation and sense of duty. We need to embrace gurukul education system if we are to safeguard deteriorating conscience, bursting morals and crippling ethics. The Gurukul Nilokheri, which is a rare blend of modernity with tradition has been established to serve the aforesaid objectives so that the students may excel in every sphere of life. The motive of the education provided in the gurukul is to foster a generation which will exhibit courage, virtuosity, sacrifice, determination, perseverance, dedication, universal brother- hood and awareness of aesthetic and cultural senses. Gurukul education moulds their character in such a fashion which benefits the society at large. To put it in a nutshell, Gurukul education system is the platform to mingle with nature, soul and almighty.
School and Management The Gurukul Nilokheri is a fully residential school for boys. The school campus is spread over an expanse of 10+8 acres in a pollution free, serene and lush green atmosphere conducive to learning and free-thinking. The school building and various other facilities have been developed as per the guidelines of CBSE, New Delhi. t consists of School Building, Hostels, Mess, Administrative Block, and, Health Care Centre. Sufficient facilities have been created for a rich Library, state of the art Laboratories, Outdoor and Indoor Games, Water Supply and Electricity. The school is absolutely cosmopolitan in its outlook and extends the services on the line of a public school and provides a comprehensive and liberal education to children of all communities and states. System of Education, Curriculum, Medium of Instruction The Medium of instruction and that of communication In the campus is English. Special care is taken in the teaching of English at different levels, emphasizing the interactive skills of the students in the language. However, there is emphasis on achieving a high standard in Hindi and Sanskrit as well. Academic Session 2021-22 The School session commences in April and ends in March next. The schedule is as follows:- (a) V to VIII - Term I & Term II (b) IX to XII - Annual Examination Fee Structure 2021-22 5th to 10th : `1,82,000 11th & 12th : `1,86,000 Point to be Note: v Fee will be paid in four equal quarterly installments. v Fee is non-refundable.
Laboratories The Gurukul has state of the art laboratories to cater to the modern needs of learning by doing. These labs provide adequate opportunity to have first hand experience of various experiments to ignite the scientific outlook in our students. Physics, chemistry and biology labs are well-stocked with modern equipments which enable our students to validate the theories of science by doing practical regularly.
Computer Education To harvest the benefits of digital technology, the Gurukul has established computer lab with all modern equipments with wi-fi connection available. The syllabus is designed in such a way that the technology is used to give the students an edge in this new world where application of knowledge is the key to success. Library The Gurukul maintains a well-stocked spacious library keeping in mind that knowledge is not restricted to textbooks only. To cultivate the habit of reading in students, the library has wide variety of books including fiction, non fiction, drama, children, history, poetry, comics, autobiography along with periodicals and magazines. Students are encouraged to borrow books to read in their spare time besides allotted library periods in the school routine. These books inspire the students to dip into silence and cherish great thoughts.
Examination & Evaluation The school encourages regular study by every student and promotion to higher classes depending upon successful performance in periodic and term examination spread over the whole academic year as per uniform system of assessment and examination of CBSE. Evaluation for promotion is based on three periodic and two term examinations as per CBSE guidelines. Promotion Promotion to the next class is given to the students who secure marks as under:- Class V - VIII - Qualifying in Term I and Term II separately. Class IX & X - 20 Marks from Internal Assessment and 80 Marks from Annual Examination. Class XI & XII - As per CBSE guidelines. The above criterion may be modified, as and when required. Decision of the School communicated by the Director/ Principal is binding on all concerned and no representation in this regard is entertained.
Self-study Apart from the teaching schedule of the school, there are supervised self study periods in the Classrooms/Hostel during afternoon and evening. There is no self study period on Saturday night. Smart class teaching makes the content easier to understand and interesting. Progress Reports / PTM Progress report of every student is discussed with the parents/ guardians giving details of the marks obtained in each subject and maximum marks in the class (subject wise) immediately after the examinations on the first Sunday of every month. A boy should have a minimum of 90% attendance along with required academic achievement for promotion to the next higher class. Meals Pure vegetarian and balanced food is served to the students in the air conditioned & well-ventilated mess which is prepared by professional and expert cooks with the help of chapatti making machines. Pure and healthy diet can easily be discerned by good physical status of our students.
Co-curricular Activities For holistic development of students supplementar y education in an organized manner is imparted through indoor and outdoor activities. Health Care Health Care services in the campus looks after the health of the students by a Resident Medical Officer. Health checkups and medical consultation are free of cost. But the specialist's fee and cost of medicine are payable by the guardian of the student. In an emergency and on doctor's advice, the Director/Principal signs the form of consent for the administration of anaesthesia or performance of any operation on the ailing student on behalf of the parents without accepting any liability. Medical leave is granted to students only on the recommendation of the School Medical Officer. A resident Medical Officer looks after the health of the students at well equipped Health Care Centre in the campus.
Yoga Yoga is a holistic method of fitness that aims at balancing the body through various poses and meditative techniques. It is compulsory for all the students. Mass yoga is practised during games period once in a week.
Educational Diversity The Gurukul acts as a catalyst to bring unity to diversity and respect for all cultural values. In order to hone multifaceted personality, the students are exposed to the rich culture heritage of our country so that they may be culturally rooted, socially integrated, morally upright and spiritually enlightened.
Games and Physical Education The school offers various types of rigorous training in the physical activities to the realization of the amateur's dreams and for the enrichment of their hidden talents. Physical Education is in the curriculum while special coaching after school hours is held for the games like Football, Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Badminton, Archery, Taekwondo, Chess, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Skating, Gymnastics, Malkhamb, Kallari & Athletics. Games and PT are compulsory for all students.

Aspirant & zealous students are nurtured for armed forces with the motto of patriotism and nation before self. The cardinal aim is to lead a disciplined life with dignified manner.

Hostel Functioning The school provides phone facility to every student. Students are permitted to contact their Parents/Guardians weekly on a specific day as per the given time schedule. Articles of daily use e.g. uniform items, soap, tooth paste, hair oil, shoe polish, fruits etc. can be provided from the market on the demand of students against a demand slip duly signed by the student and recommended by the Hostel faculty. Amount due for such procurement is recovered from Student's Personal Account. Services of barber, tailor and cobbler are also available in the campus. The charges are recovered from the boy's personal account deposit. C.C.T.V Surveillance The entire campus is under CCTV surveillance which renders every corner of the Gurukul under active observation and thus secures for the students. This also stimulates the students to live a disciplined life for better outcome of their time.
General Rules & Information 1. Parents/Guardians will be bound by the school rules in all respects. These may be modified from time to time. In all matters of dispute, the decision of the Principal/Director will be binding on the Parents/Guardians. 2. The Parents/Guardians will authorise the Principal/Director and through him the staff of the school, to take relevant decisions on their behalf while they are in the school or on tours, trekking, expeditions, camps etc.
3. In accordance with the rules of the school, the Parents/Guardians will accept and authorise participation of their wards in compulsory programmes of tours, trekking, expeditions, camps etc. during their stay at school. 4. The Parents/Guardians will not hold the school responsible for indemnification against any claims arising due to illness, accident or any other cause. 5. All school property must be taken care of and any damage caused by a student will be made good by the parents concerned. In addition, a fine will be imposed for the offence. 6. The Parents/Guardians will authorise the Principal/Director to take necessary action on their behalf in case of any emergency operation or any other such condition where their permission is needed but cannot be obtained in time. 7. Smoking, use of alcoholic drinks or drugs, leaving school or station without permission are strictly prohibited. Students involved in any such activities will be expelled from the school. 8. Once TC is given, the student concerned will collect all his belongings before leaving the school campus. The school will not be held responsible for his left over articles. 9. The Principal/Director is fully empowered to remove a student from school & hostel, if in his opinion, the student has failed to abide by the discipline of the school and his continued presence is detrimental to the interest of the other students of the school or the student fails to come up to the minimum academic standard prescribed for his class. 10. All parents will have to sign an agreement with the school at the time when their wards join the school. 11. All the students should converse only in English inside the campus to enhance their skill and fluency in the language. 12. Wanton damage to school property, disfiguring of walls and indecent language or behaviour are punishable offence. 13. Any student found to have taken other students' belongings will be punished or even suspended from the school. 14. Students are responsible for the safety of their belongings. While every effort is made by the school authorities to reduce the loss of such articles, the ultimate responsibility rests with the students themselves.
15. Fighting among the students is strictly prohibited. Groupism will lead to the suspension/expulsion of the concerned students. 16. A student indulging in unfair means in examination will be awarded zero in that subject & will be expelled from the school. 17. Eatables brought from outside will not be permitted to be taken to the hostel under any circumstances. Eatables can be provided to the students only once in fifteen days. 18. Permission to go home is granted by Director/Principal only. Students must inform the concerned hostel teacher after taking permission and before leaving the campus. On return they must report to the concerned hostel teacher. 19. Visits by unauthorised persons are not allowed. Persons authorised by the guardians are permitted to meet the boarders on prescribed days only. 20. Books, magazines and periodicals not approved by the Director/Principal should not be brought to the school. 21. The cases that justify the removal of a boarder by the school authorities are- a) Offences involving honesty and morality b) Grave and habitual insubordination c) Non-payment of fees d) Very poor academic performance 22. Fee once deposited will not be refunded. Kindly go through all the rules & regulations of the school before depositing the fee. Fee is non-Refundable. 23. The school being purely residential, a student dismissed from hostel stands dismissed from the school and vice versa.
24. Students should not keep any money, gold ornaments, electronic items etc. School will not be responsible for the loss of such articles. 25. All the belongings of the boarder should be distinctly marked by his scholar number and the school will not be held responsible for the loss of any such belongings. 26. Bullying/teasing in any form is strictly prohibited. Parents/Guardians' Visits 1. The Guardians of newly admitted boys are permitted to visit them only after the expiry of 6 weeks. 2. Parents /Guardians/ Local Guardians are permitted to visit their wards only on prescribed days. They will meet their wards in the main building only. A parent can take his/her ward out of the campus after getting out-pass on the condition that the ward reports back on the same day by 4.00 P.M. 3. Parents/ Guardians/Local Guardians are not permitted to visit their wards during school hours. 4. The Parents/Guardians are not permitted to visit the hostels except at the time of admitting their ward.. 5. Parents/Guardians may meet the Principal/Director on prescribed days or with prior permission on any working day between 9 am and 12 noon individually to discuss any matter pertaining to their wards or in general.
