Summer Letterbox Mark your calendars for May 28, when the 2022 Summer Letterbox Adventure kicks off! Part geocache and part scavenger hunt, our letterbox fun will get your family out in nature and exploring the parks while they use clues to find the hidden letterboxes. NEW THIS YEAR is the inclusion of 4 Delaware City Parks for a total of 12 letterboxes to be discovered. Find at least four letterboxes and you’ll take home a prize! Year in and year out, we learn what weather to expect as part of the climate we live in. No matter where we live or travel, weather and climate impact every aspect of our lives from food supplies to infrastructure to the natural world around us. And we have learned that our human activities impact weather and climate too. Join us this year as we celebrate the incredible dynamics of weather, climate and human activity. Interact with displays on weather events, experience an art show highlighting the effects of climate change on birds, enjoy weather and climate themed education programs and special guests, along with movie nights, and more as we explore the “Climate Connection”! FOR THE LOVE OF BIRDS May 27 – Sept. 5 DHP Visitor Center Enjoy a summer art installation entitled “For the Love of Birds” by artists Julie Turrentine and Caroline Blizzard. The exhibit is borne out of the artists combined love of nature and, more specifically, birding. Pairing with the recently released Audubon Society climate report “Survival by Degrees”, the exhibit features the artists’ beautiful melted glass birds along with stunning photography throughout the space. The visitor will be taken on a visual journey, showing how Ohio’s resident and migratory birds will be affected by climate change. CLIMATE CONNECTION EXHIBIT May 29 - Sept. 5 Shale Hollow Lodge No umbrellas or snow boots needed, just bring your curiosity about weather with you this summer. Explore various hands-on displays related to weather phenomena including tornados, microbursts, hot air/cool air dynamics, air pressure, and thunder and lightning.
