Paisley & District Battalion The Boys’ Brigade Update Vol 25 Issue 1 October 2018 Civic Reception for Queen’s Men, Paisley Abbey Monday 17th September 2018 The Queen's Badge is the highest award that may be gained by a member of The Boys' Brigade, and this year’s recipients were presented with their awards by Provost Lorraine Cameron in front of an audience of family and friends, plus invited guests and BB Ambassadors. Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Badges were also presented. We regret to record the death of Noel Gordon on At Battalion level, in an era when the Battalion had a Tuesday 18th September following a long period of ill variety of bands among the Companies, Noel worked health. Noel enrolled as an Officer in the 29th Belfast hard to bring them together during his time as Bands Company and completed his Basic Training in Belfast. Convener. The hope is that as many Companies can become involved in this event as possible to help raise awareness of homelessness in Scotland. The Wee Sleep Out is part of Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018 which is about providing opportunities for young people to show the world what they are made of JUNIORS Four teams took part in the Junior event which was won by 1st/3rd Renfrew, in second place was 8th Paisley, with 15th Paisley getting the final medal placing. Well done to all the teams who took part. SENIOR BASKETBALL RESULT SENIORS Seven teams took part in the Seniors event. There were lots of very close matches and some very good play. Well done to all boys who participated. 1st: 8th Paisley 2nd: 24th Paisley A 3rd: 15th Paisley BB SCOTLAND NEWS 140 Companies reported an increase in membership in session 2017 -2018. The Scottish Committee have targeted five Companies in the Battalion to increase their numbers this session. This should be the aim of all Companies; renewal of some of our funding may depend on the Battalion displaying an increase in numbers over the next year or two. They also did some bag packing at Morrisons in August to raise funds for the company.
BB Scotland’s national residential event for Company Sections takes place from Friday 24th May until Monday 27th May 2019.
