About National Institute of Education (NIE) • NIE is an institute of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) which is ranked 11th in the world, and Top 15 in the subject of Education, according to the latest QS World University Rankings. As Singapore’s national institute for teacher education and a leader in educational research in Asia, NIE inculcates and promotes joy of learning in preparing educators to navigate the future of learning through professional 1

Conference Venue: National Institute of Education (NIE) 1 Nanyang Walk, Singapore 637616 Getting to NIE From Changi Airport: Train + Bus • Take a train from Changi Airport MRT Station (CG2) to Boon Lay Station (EW27) on the East West Line, the nearest station to NIE/NTU. Note that you need to transfer at Tanah Merah (EW4) and then transfer to the East West Line train towards Tuas Link (EW33). You may view the MRT Map here. The journey from the airport to Boon Lay takes just over an hour. • Then take bus 179 (179A) or 199 from Boon Lay Interchange (next to Boon Lay MRT Station) and get off at Lee Wee Nam Library (27211) (Bus 179) or at B10 School of Education (27219) (Bus 199). The two bus stops are on opposite sides of the road with 2
an overhead bridge connecting NIE and NTU campuses (see the picture below). The journey takes about 25 minutes. • You can buy, top up and refund an EZ-Link card at any MRT station that allows you to pay for your train and bus fares. Visitors to Singapore can also use the Singapore Tourist Pass, which offers all-day unlimited travel on MRT and LRT trains, and basic bus services. All public transports in Singapore close at 11:30 p.m. From Changi Airport: Taxi or Grab • You may take a taxi from the taxi stands in the Arrival areas of each terminal of the airport. It takes around 40 minutes to NIE and costs around 40-50 Singapore dollars. Alternatively, you can use Grab, the main ride-hailing app in Singapore, which costs around 35 dollars to NIE (NIE Block 1, 1 Nanyang Walk, Singapore 637616). The app can be downloaded from AppStore or Google Play. Driving to NIE • The following car parks are nearest to NIE campus: Car Park 1 and Car Park 2 (nearest to NIE blocks 1, 2 & 3) with charges ranging from S$0.015 to 0.027 per minute. There are also motor cycle parking lots next to the car parks. 3
Entry and Visa Information Entry Requirements • According to the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), all visitors to Singapore must meet the following requirements: - A passport that is valid for at least six months; - Sufficient funds for the length of your intended stay; - Onward/return ticket; - Entry facilities to next destination; - Visa for Singapore, if applicable. Please kindly check if you need a visa to enter Singapore on the ICA website https://www.ica.gov.sg/visitor/visitor_entryvisa Request for Visa Application Document(s) • If you require an invitation letter and Form V39A to allow you to travel to Singapore, please email the conference secretariat (niegsc@nie.edu.sg) with the following details: - Registration ID - Name (as it appears on passport) - Passport Number - Nationality - Country of Departure - Job title - Organization - Mailing Address - Email • Kindly ensure that you have completed your registration and have made the payment before sending in your request for visa application document(s) to the conference secretariat. The document(s) will be prepared and sent by email. 4
Accommodation We may provide discounted on-campus accommodation in NTU Halls of Residence to international participants, subject to the number of international participants reaching 20 and the availability of rooms. We will update this information on the conference website https://niehd.nie.edu.sg/igsc2020/. Alternatively, you may consider the following options: • Nanyang Executive Centre (NEC) Hotel-style accommodation on NTU campus is available at the Nanyang Executive Centre (NEC). In-house guests have access to a well-equipped gymnasium and an Olympic-sized pool which is a stone's throw away from the Centre.
