Market Surveillance Action on Tyres 2015 (MSTyr15) 28 months • Pan-EU coordinated programme of market 15 participants surveillance activities targeting C1 passenger car tyres for normal and extreme weather conditions. • It aims to increase the rates of compliance with the regulatory requirements*. • Funded by Horizon2020, the Research and Innovation programme of the EU. *Regulation (EC) No 1222/2009, Regulation (EU) No 228/2011, Regulation (EU) No 1235/2011
Participants Under the coordination of PROSAFE, 15 market surveillance authorities (MSAs) are part of the MSTyr15: Belgium Lithuania Bulgaria Luxembourg Croatia Poland Estonia Romania Finland Spain Germany Sweden Ireland Turkey Latvia

Novelty in MSTyr15 Strong support from stakeholder organisation: ETRMA and ITMA; Implementing and successfully carrying out a coordinated market surveillance programme across the EU in respect of the vehicle tyres Regulation (EC) No. 1222/2009, an area where the relevant authorities are not routinely taking actions, and especially not in a harmonised or coordinated way. Tablets for inspectors Each MSA received two tablets to be used during on-site inspections or during evaluations of technical documentation; Data collected was synchronized with a customized database; Information immediately available in all participating countries; Avoiding double sampling.

Energy efficiency in transport MSTyr15 intends to reduce energy use and emissions in the transport sector by 118g verifying the rates of compliance with the CO2/km 95g CO2 regulatory requirements. /km The energy consumption of the transport sector has been decreasing quite rapidly in just over two decades and MSTyr15 action is - 36% expected to contribute to the EU emission reduction targets for 2021. 1995 2016 2021
