Commodore's AGM Report for 2020 Since then, massive efforts have been made to ensure that the Club remained safe and could open, albeit with limited activities, as the Government restrictions were lifted. Risk assessments and processes were devised and initiated, and a lot of thanks must go to Matt Yallop and the Covid Committee for steering us through this. Many requirements were imple- mented with thanks to Dave and Anne Jarvis, Steve Walters, and our groundsman Mick Anker for getting the club operating even in its restricted form. At last we returned to the water. Throughout this period considerable efforts have been made in tending and looking after Well, it could safely be said that 2020 has the grounds and land, which has seen a been a very different year…… tremendous rise in footfall from the local community. Again, thanks in particular to Alan Burlington, Steve Walters and those others who have "walked the lake", keeping an eye on things, and clearing up after the few. Returning to traditional Club activities, I'd like to re-affirm thanks to all Flag Officers and Committee Members for their efforts through- out the year, sometimes in trying circum- stances but always with the Club in mind. Recognition should especially be given to Club Members who took part in the Winter Work Parties for completing our growing list of development projects. These included, but were not limited to the following: Working with the Thrapston Town Council on the road improvements. Whilst these finished at the old railway line, the untouched section has since come under their jurisdiction, and is on their plan for Working party in January being addressed too. The next question then becomes, can this be convened as a virtual meeting? A Bill has now been passed into law by virtue of the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 which enables qualify- ing bodies (including companies and Charitable Incorporated Organisations) to hold an AGM or other general meeting with more flexibility, notwithstanding the require- ments laid out in the organisation's govern- ing documents. Covid-19 - please be vigilant and follow the hygiene and distancing rules! For the time being the bar, clubhouse and workshop are closed for general access. The changing rooms are also closed but the toilets may be used one a one-by-one basis, following the one-way system. Please get changed outside the buildings or in your car and please use all gates to spread the use of the security system. The current social distancing rules should be observed at all times. Thank you! Club Security - please lock up! Never leave the club open outside hours! The main entrance gate, the clubhouse doors and the workshop have sometimes been left open. The result was trapped walkers' cars and mobile homes which had to be released, causing a lot of aggro on all sides. Open gates also give unrestricted access to thieves, and in the past, things have been taken. Therefore, regardless of which gate you use to enter or leave the site, please check and make sure that the club premises are locked. If in doubt, assume you are the last to leave. Don't rely on others to lock up. Also remember - if you borrow anything from the club (including club boats), please put it back after use. And if any club property gets damaged while you're in charge, please report it to the Harbourmaster or the Duty Officer of the day. Accidents can happen. But: If we don't know it, we can't fix it.
