2019 World Metrology Day Conference Exhibitor Invitation The International System of Units - Fundamentally better Metrology for Future of Manufacturing 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, 24 May 2019 (Friday) One Farrer Hotel, 1 Farrer Park Station Road, Singapore 217562 The National Metrology Centre (NMC), A*STAR, The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) and The Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) Interest Group, SMF, are organising a conference on “The International System of Units - Fundamentally better” on 24 May 2019, in conjunction with the international World Metrology Day. This year, the World Metrology Day (WMD) 2019 is perhaps one of the most significant event in the history of metrology as there are fundamental revisions to the International System of Units (the SI) since its inception. Research into new measurement methods, including those using quantum phenomena; underpin the changes, which comes into force on 20 May 2019. The SI is now based on a set of definitions each linked to the laws of physics and have the advantage of being able to embrace further improvements in measurement science and technology to meet the needs of future users for many years to come. In a wide role, metrology, the science of measurement, plays a central role in scientific discovery and innovation, industrial manufacturing and international trade, in improving the quality of life and in protecting the global environment. World Metrology Day is an annual celebration of the signature of the Metre Convention on 20 May 1875 by representatives of seventeen nations. The Convention set the framework for global collaboration in the science of measurement and in its industrial, commercial and societal applications. The original aim of the Metre Convention - the worldwide uniformity of measurement - remains as important today as it was in 1875.
This year, invited speakers will share how measurement sciences and their applications could help the industry sectors meet demands from the dynamic and evolving global market. This will benefit the end-users, stakeholders and regulators in related calibration, measurement and testing that are critical for global trade and industry. Stakeholders and key industry players will also be sharing their insights in the afternoon’s Industrial Engagement Sessions focusing on measurement needs, challenges and opportunities in IoT, Sensor Network, and Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering. The full-day conference, which is free-of-charge, is targeted at 200+ participants. The target audience includes business development managers, scientists, lab managers and engineers from various sectors including Testing, Inspection, Calibration Laboratories, and instrument suppliers. This conference is important to industry and R&D organisations who require accurate and precise measurements for their product design, manufacturing and engineering services. We would like to invite you to be an event partner by taking up an exhibition space at the event. The details are as in the following Annexes: Annex A : Tentative programme for the event Annex B : Location layout & floor plans Annex C : Details of the exhibition packages Annex D : Exhibitor’s registration form.
