LOS ALTOS STAGE COMPANY by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe directed by Gary Landis June 11 – 20, 2021
The mission of Los Altos Stage Company is to engage the community and artists in creating and experiencing intimate, professional-quality theater. Los Altos Stage Company is a quintessential neighborhood playhouse celebrating the full canon of American theater. We strive to bring together a diversity of theater practitioners, enthusiasts, and supporters to create, explore, and celebrate musicals, comedies, and dramas that together weave a rich tapestry of American culture and experi- ence. Each season, Los Altos Stage Company seeks to balance work that entertains, engages, provokes, and inspires our audience. Leveraging the special nature of our intimate 99-seat theater, we believe in building deep connections between artist and audience, in offering high pro-duction values, and in creating an audience experience that is warm, welcoming, and personal. Los Altos Stage Company continues to play an essential role in our community by creating and presenting live theater in Los Altos, serving as a cultural hub for local residents and inspiring a passion for the performing arts in current and future generations. By fostering a deep commitment and connection to the performing arts locally, we seek to advance a more vibrant cultural community throughout our region. Since our inception, Los Altos Stage Company has produced more than 130 productions.
Los Altos Stage Company presents Every Brilliant Thing By Duncan Macmillan With Jonny Donahoe Directed by Gary Ferguson Stage Manager Skyler Riordan Scenic and Production Designer Gary Landis Sound Designer Ken Kilen Scenic Builder Kevin Davies Master Electrician Justin Buchs Styling Issac J. Booth Cast James Schott or Tamarin K. Ythier EVERY BRILLIANT THING was first produced by Paines Plough and Pentabus Theatre, on 28 June 2013 at Ludlow Fringe Festival. The play had its North American premiere at Barrow Street Theatre, New York, on 6 December 2014, where it was presented by Barrow Street Theatre and Jean Doumanian Productions.
CAST James Schott - Every Brilliant Thing marks a lot of firsts for James; his first show with Los Altos Stage Company, his first solo performer show, his first non-musical show in the Bay Area, and his first live theatre project since the Covid pandemic began. James loves theatre and is constantly surrounding himself with and immersing himself in as much theatre as he can. To this end, he is currently a student at San Francisco State University pursuing a theatre degree. His favorite roles he’s had the opportunity to perform include: Jerry Lukowski (The Full Monty) with Bay Area Musicals & StageWorks Fresno; Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (Jekyll & Hyde the Gothic Musical) with Sunnyvale Community Players; George Novak (She Loves Me) with Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory; and Robert Martin (Drowsy Chaperone) with Landmark Musicals. James would like to thank everyone who was able to make it to these performances. Live theatre is so important. Also, he thanks his wife Carly for always supporting him to follow his dreams. Tamarin K. Ythier is thrilled to be making her Los Altos Stage debut with Every Brilliant Thing. She was born in Los Angeles, raised in northern Virginia, and was not named after the Tamarin monkey. Feel free to look them up at your leisure. A classical voice performance major at Carnegie Mellon University, she knows that training gave her the foundation to perform a variety of roles, from Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance to Rosie in Mamma Mia!. She has performed in many dinner and regional theaters in Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, and Illinois, including Arena Stage, The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and Creative Cauldron. Favorite roles include Eve/Mama Noah in Children of Eden and Doris in Same Time Next Year. A big thank you to Gary Ferguson for his encouragement, support, and direction. Huge hugs to friends, old and new, and my family for their patience, advice, tolerance, and most of all, love and laughter. Enjoy the show.
