BRISBANE COMEDY FESTIVAL ARTIST INFORMATION COVID-19 Preamble This Expression of Interest Document and the production, marketing and ticketing information in this pack have been prepared anticipating a best case scenario whereby Brisbane venues are operating at 100% of usual capacity with no physical distancing requirements. As at November 2020, Brisbane Powerhouse is operating under the Approved COVID Safe Industry Plan for Live Performance Venues. >> Link Recent lifting of restrictions in Queensland allows for up to 100% capacity in seated venues with a 2m distance between performer and audience. Should restrictions or other Government directives that will reduce venue capacity be in place at the time of programming, or be in place at the time of the Festival, manage- ment will communicate any revised production, marketing, venue capacity and ticket- ing information to artists and promoters prior to contracting. Venues BRISBANE POWERHOUSE Located in New Farm, Brisbane Powerhouse is Queensland’s home for contemporary culture, a magnificent power station of the 1920’s reborn as an arts centre on the Brisbane River. Available venues at Brisbane Powerhouse operating at 100% capacity include: • Powerhouse Theatre: 716 pax (extended mode) – theatre style, ticketed as allocated seating • Visy Theatre: 200 pax – thrust stage, theatre style - ticketed as allocated seating • Turbine Studio: 150 pax – theatre style, ticketed as allocated seating • Rooftop Terrace: 80 pax – theatre style, ticketed as General Admission • Park Mezzanine: 50pax – theatre style, ticketed as General Admission • Graffiti Room: 30 pax - theatre style, ticketed as General Admission All shows at Brisbane Powerhouse are ticketed via Ticketek. Transaction fee is $6.90 Please Note: Rooftop Terrace capacity has been reduced following patron and artist feedback. THE FORTITUDE MUSIC HALL Located in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct, The Fortitude Music Hall is a world class performance space, inspired by some of the worlds most loved live music venues. Available venue at The Fortitude Music Hall operating at 100% capacity include: •M ain Room: 732 stalls, 336 balcony – theatre style seated, ticketed as allocated seating. All shows at The Fortitude Music Hall are ticketed via Ticketmaster. Transaction Fee is $5.95 All shows at The Fortitude Music Hall are ticketed as 18+ events. If you wish to run your session as all ages, a $800 ex GST per show fee applies to cover additional staffing. THE TIVOLI The Tivoli Theatre is one of Australia’s most beautiful performance venues and is renowned for its art deco features and old-world charm. Originally built as a bakery in 1917, The Tivoli was reborn as a performance space in 1988, and regularly plays host to Australia’s and the world’s musical and comedy heroes. Available venue at The Tivoli operating at 100% capacity include: • Main Room: 690pax – theatre style seated, ticketed as General Admission. All shows at The Tivoli are ticketed via Ticketmaster. Transaction Fee is $6.10 2
The Deal, Fees + Charges REGISTRATION FEES Venues 200 seats and under – $320 ex GST per confirmed act Venues 201 seats and over – $420 ex GST per confirmed act Registration fees are due upon signing an Agreement. Agreement must be returned and registration fee paid prior to on sale. BRISBANE COMEDY FESTIVAL WILL: 1. Provide the room as agreed and retain a percentage of Net Box Office as outlined below. 2. Provide production crew and available equipment for every space as outlined below and within technical specifications. 3. Provide a 1/3 page listing for all contracted events in the Brisbane Comedy Festival guide. Listings may be upgraded in the guide. Please see marketing information below for more details. 4. Include all events in the Brisbane Comedy Festival media kit (presenter/artist to provide media release). 5. I nclude all events on the Brisbane Comedy Festival website. 6. I nclude all Brisbane Comedy Festival events performed at Brisbane Powerhouse on the Brisbane Powerhouse website. 7. I nclude all events in the Brisbane Comedy Festival enews (26,000 subscribers). 8. Include Brisbane Comedy Festival in Powermail (fortnightly Brisbane Powerhouse enews sent to over 123,000 subscribers). 9. Provide space in the Box Office for a poster (maximum size A2). 10. Provide space for flyers/handbills within the venue. 11. Provide access to marketing ‘extras’ upon request (costs listed below). 12. Provide a table and pinboard for merchandise sales (staffing not included). 13. Conduct an overarching Brisbane Comedy Festival campaign as outlined below. THE PRESENTER WILL: 1. Cover all costs associated with presenting the artist/s (see below for inclusions). 2. Manage all marketing and publicity of their own shows (including all design, and printing of posters and handbills) excluding the above-mentioned support. 3. I nclude the Brisbane Comedy Festival logo of a minimum specified size in all marketing materials. 4. Seek approval from Brisbane Comedy Festival Marketing Manager on all marketing materials prior to sending to print. 5. Cover all box office fees and charges as outlined below. 6. M anage merchandise sales (the Venue will retain a 10% commission). Four weeks’ notice required if the Presenter wants venue staff to sell merchandise. 7. P rovide technical information to Brisbane Powerhouse no later than 4 June 2021. 8. Meet all requirements outlined in the Sponsored Venue Agreement to be issued to all confirmed acts by the Brisbane Comedy Festival. 3
BOX OFFICE SPLIT (Calculated on Net Box Office) BRISBANE POWERHOUSE • Powerhouse Theatre: 75% to the Artist / 25% to the Festival • Visy Theatre: 75% to the Artist / 25% to the Festival against a venue guarantee of $320 ex GST per show • Turbine Studio: 75% to the Artist / 25% to the Festival against a venue guarantee of $300 ex GST per show • Rooftop Terrace: 80% to the Artist / 20% to the Festival against a venue guarantee of $150 ex GST per show • Park Mezzanine: 80% to the Artist / 20% to the Festival • Graffiti Room: 80% to the Artist / 20% to the Festival THE FORTITUDE MUSIC HALL • 70% to the Artist / 30% to the Festival THE TIVOLI • 75% to the Artist / 25% to the Festival Net Box Office Definition If the contracting party (artist) is registered for GST the following clause applies: Net Box Office is defined as gross box office (excluding GST) minus ticketing and box office charges (excluding GST), which include but are not limited to; inside charges, booking fees, credit card fees, and complimentary ticket fees. If the contracting party (artist) is not registered for GST the following clause applies: Net Box Office is defined as gross box office, minus ticketing and box office charges (excluding GST), which include but are not limited to; inside charges, booking fees, credit card fees, and complimentary ticket fees. The box office split is a taxable supply and GST will be added to the calculation. BOX OFFICE FEES AND CHARGES (All Venues) • Service Charge: for all ticket prices, a $5.95 incl GST per ticket service charge will be deducted at settlement • Ticketek Service Fee of 1.98% (incl GST) will be deducted at settlement • GST: all ticket prices must include GST if applicable • Zero Priced or Complimentary Tickets: charged at $1.20 per ticket (incl GST) • Advertised Ticket Price: is to be inclusive of all fees and charges IMPORTANT: All advertising must state: Transaction fee from $5.95 applies to all ticket purchases. 4
COMP TICKET ALLOCATION The Festival will have access to the following complimentary allocations to each show. (Preference will be given to non-peak times) BRISBANE POWERHOUSE THE FORTITUDE MUSIC HALL Powerhouse Theatre: 20 Main Room: 30 Visy Theatre: 12 Turbine Studio: 8 THE TIVOLI Rooftop Terrace: 8 Main Room: 20 Park Mezzanine: 4 Graffiti Room: 2 Production Information TECHNICAL STAFF One (1) hour technical rehearsal per show is included at all venues. Additional technical rehearsal time can be requested and will be charged back at $48 per hour, per crew member required for that venue, in normal time. Show Call staff allocation is outlined below: BRISBANE POWERHOUSE • Powerhouse Theatre: One 3-hour call for 1LX, 1SND, 1SM for each performance day is included. • Visy Theatre: One 3-hour call for 1LX, 1SND, 1SM for each performance day is included. • Turbine Studio: One 2-hour call for 1LX/SM, 1SND for each performance day is included. • Rooftop Terrace: One 2-hour call for 1LX/SM, 1SND for each performance day is included. • Park Mezzanine: One 2-hour call for 1LX/SND for each performance day is included. • Graffiti Room: One 2-hour call for 1LX/SND for each performance day is included. THE FORTITUDE MUSIC HALL + THE TIVOLI • Main Rooms: One 3-hour call for 1LX, 1SND, 1SM for each performance day is included. TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT Each room comes with a basic equipment allocation including a PA system, microphones and standard lighting (stage wash + some specials), as outlined opposite: BRISBANE POWERHOUSE – STANDARD TECHNICAL INCLUSIONS • Powerhouse Theatre (716pax theatre style, built stage, end on) ° Stage Size – 10m W x 4m D x 0.8m H ° PA System including playback, 2x wireless handheld microphones and 1x wired microphone ° Standard Lighting Rig – stage wash + some specials and haze ° 1x Hard Top Stool ° AV Package is available and can be provided at additional cost – $400 flat fee – includes Projector, Screen, Laptop with QLAB and Vision Switcher 5

Brisbane Comedy Festival will lead the overarching Festival marketing and publicity campaign to ticket sales for your show within Brisbane Comedy Festival. The campaign will include: ACTIVITY USING GENERAL FESTIVAL ARTWORK AND CONTENT: • Brisbane Comedy Festival guide • Guide distribution throughout Brisbane’s entertainment, retail, dining and art precincts • A dedicated Brisbane Comedy Festival website and Brisbane Comedy Festival branded social media and EDM channels • What's On venue signage • Venue signage • Lighting up Brisbane City Council assets • Outdoor signage • Radio promotion • Must Do Brisbane campaign • Facebook advertising campaign • Google AdWords + Display campaign • Pre-sale EDM to previous festival patrons • Powermail feature issue for Brisbane Comedy Festival (123,000+ subscribers) • Dedicated PR agency working on the Festival ACTIVITY FEATURING BRISBANE COMEDY FESTIVAL SHOWS: •B risbane Comedy Festival website, which traditionally receives over 750,000 page views during and in the lead up to Festival period •B risbane Powerhouse website will feature Brisbane Comedy Festival shows performing at Brisbane Powerhouse (average 300,000 pageviews per month). •T icketek website (3 million unique visitors per month) •T icketmaster website (1.8 million unique visitors per month) •L isting in the Brisbane Comedy Festival guide. FESTIVAL PROGRAM GUIDE The Brisbane Comedy Festival guide will be A5 in size. All festival shows will be included in the guide as a 1/3 page listing including a photo at no extra cost. Extra costs apply to upgrade to a half or full page listing (see below). FESTIVAL PROGRAM GUIDE UPGRADE • All shows will be given a complimentary 1/3 page listing in the Festival program guide. • A limited number of listing upgrades are available to purchase. Prices are as follows: ° Full page: $350 plus GST ° Half page: $250 plus GST • Bookings are due by Friday 26 March, 2021 • Brisbane Powerhouse reserves the right to the design of all guide pages. You will be provided with a proof of the copy and page design before it goes to print. OUTDOOR SIGNAGE Limited opportunities exist for installation of outdoor signage at Brisbane Powerhouse, The Tivoli and Brunswick Street Mall (where The Fortitude Music Hall is located).
