Skills Class. This hands-on class is free
but registration is requested, walk-ins are
welcome (bring your own device). The class
is from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. in The Learning Center. Call

Garden Records” Presented by
the Palm Springs Genealogical
Society with guest speaker Len
Enlow followed by round-table
sharing. This FREE program will be from

Wednesday, January 8th Nature
Lecture: Joshua Tree: A Place in
the American West. Presented by Park
Ranger Cane West, hear stories of how
the mythology of the American
West intersects with our very
own Joshua Tree National Park.
The lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m. in The
Learning Center. Presented in partnership with
the Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National
Park.
Thursday, January 9th Cover to Cover
Book Club. This month’s book is An
American Marriage by Tayari Jones. The
meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Mizell
Senior Center at 480 S. Sunrise Way in Palm
Springs.
Tuesday, January 14th Family Fun
Night presents Drag Queen Story
Hour! Join Bella da
Ball in the Youth Room
for an evening of laughter and fun! We’ll
start the evening with a special craft and
then circle around as Bella shares stories.
At the end we’ll have a dance party. A fun
evening for the whole family! The program
will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Health Lecture: The Good,
The Bad and the Ugly: Opiates, Pain and
Addiction. Learn what opiates have been shown to
treat, how doctors should be recommending their use
and what to do when they become a problem. Please
join K.D. Thrasher, DO for an informative discussion.
The lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m. in The Learning
Center. Presented in partnership with Eisenhower
Health.

be done.” “This is not the way we do it around here”.

assumptions that act as barriers in our lives. New York

strategies and tools to manage problems
and find creative solutions. The lecture will

Wellness Lecture: “Psychology
of Food Choice & the Science
of Food Addiction + Hormones
and Hunger” Presented by Jason Tate, Functional
Medicine Certified Health Coach, helping you better
understand your food choices and how
your biochemistry and hormones play a
role.The lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m.
in The Learning Center. Presented in
partnership with the Certified Farmers’
Market, a Palm Springs Cultural Center

Exhibit:
February 10 – March 7, 2020 “Southern California
“Cool” Living: Mid-Century Modern Homes in the
Desert and Beyond.”
On display inside the Library, featuring photos, text,
and architectural models highlighting key Mid-Century
Modern residential architecture and its impact on the
spirit of “the cool.” The exhibit is presented by the Palm
Springs Modern Committee, psmodcom.org.

by local historian Melissa
Riche, discussing her
book and the midcentury
communities and glorious homes of
Rancho Mirage. The lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m. in

Book Club. This month’s book is Grateful
American by Gary Sinese. The meeting

MODERNISM WEEK 2020 EVENTS:
February 13th – 23rd A Modernism
Week Exhibit: “Atomic Age
Tablescapes: An Exhibit of Delicious
Dinnerware from 1955” Offered daily
during Modernism Week at the Welwood
Murray Memorial Library in the
Cornelia White Community Room. This special
exhibit requires either advanced ticket purchase online
at www.modernismweek.com or tickets can be
purchased at the door, $10 per person. The exhibit
will be available from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily.
Thursday, February 20th
Modernism House Tour: “A Mid-
Century Thunderbird Country Club
Showstopper!” This special house
tour requires advanced ticket purchase
online at www.modernismweek.com, $35 per
person. Tours will be every thirty-minutes on the
half-hour, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Friday, February 21st Modernism
Lecture: “Hollywood Modern: Houses
of the Stars” with Alan Hess and
Michael Stern. This special lecture event
requires advanced ticket purchase online
at www.modernismweek.com, $25 per
person. If not sold out, tickets will be available at the
door. The program will be from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
(after hours) at the Palm Springs Public Library, main
library atrium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
Presented by and proceeds to benefit the Friends of
the Palm Springs Library, a non-profit organization
established in 1971 that supports the Library through
grants for events and equipment and builds awareness
within the community for the Library and its functions.
