Friends of the Chambers County Library System The Friends of the Chambers County Library System consists of members and volunteers who actively promote Library services and resources while sharing their love of books with the community. The Friends foster a positive relationship between the Library and the community, secure volunteers and raise funds to support the Library System. The Friends work toward the enrichment of library services, and to finance library projects not possible with county funds. How do I join the Friends? Membership is open to all individuals. Annual membership dues are $5 for individuals, $25 for small businesses, and $100 for corporate entities. If you’d like to join the Friends, visit any of our locations and ask to fill out a membership form. Friends of the Chambers County Library System Annual Meeting, a time when the Executive Board meets with all interested members to discuss the needs of the library. Consider joining us on Saturday, February 5 at 9:30, at the Juanita Hargraves Memorial Branch in Winnie. Library Advisory Board The Chambers County Library Advisory Board is a group of 7 citizens from the county, appointed by Commissioners’ Court. Terms for the board members are for two years, with three full terms allowed per member. Advisory Board considerations involve all public policies used by the Library System. These include the library mission statement, fees and fines, loan periods, and long-range planning. Board members serve as contact persons for community residents who might have interests and concerns about the library system. The Advisory Board does not act as an administrative group; the County Librarian is the executive officer for the Library System, and the Advisory Board provides direction through policy decisions and advice offered.
