POSTS President’s Letter On behalf of the Parents’ Organization of Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (POSTS), I welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. I look forward to getting back onto the campus again and seeing all of the amazing students, faculty parents, and guardians. With the evolving changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I assure you that the STS community will strive to stay together more than ever before. As President of POSTS, it is my goal to help all students, parents, and guardians feel the STS love, and for new families to feel welcomed as they begin their journey with the school. STS has an amazing sense of community and I believe we can all do our part to wrap our arms around each other (even virtually) for support. As parents, I encourage you to get involved with the school. There are many volunteer opportunities that are key to our children’s day-to-day activities. Anything from being a volunteer at a sporting or drama event, to helping students pick out uniform items in our store Tweeds and More where 100 percent of its profits go back to STS, to helping students and parents locate items that have been lost and found, or participating in employee appreciation events. This year we also have the amazing 50th Year Anniversary of Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School which will offer many unique volunteer opportunities as well as events to participate in for only this year. These are just a few of the many opportunities you can choose to get involved. You can learn more about how to get involved by checking out our Volunteer Handbook or you can reach out to me or our Volunteer Chair at volunteer@sts.ab.ca. As the mission statement of POSTS says, we are here to provide opportunities for parents and guardians to have an active role in the STS community and school life. We do this through the promotion and facilitation of volunteer activities, building community spirit, and fundraising initiatives. POSTS strives to be innovative and responsive to the needs of the school. In closing, I look forward to being a parent with you at STS. I’m excited to see you around the school and to volunteer with you. Please feel free to stop me and introduce yourself or you can reach out to me at postspresident@sts.ab.ca if you have any questions or concerns. Please remember to thank the amazing teachers and staff at STS for all the outstanding things they do for our children. We are in this together! We are Spartans!
