LHCb detector & data taking • Third year of Run2 data-taking, LHC e LHCb in very good shape. • Aim at 2.5 fb-1 this year for a total >9 fb-1 Run1+Run2 • Fill at best the bandwidth with NoBias trigger (for Charm Physics) during intensity ramp-up • Run-time alignment and calibration of the detector
LHCb Collaboration • Collaboration growing progressively every year Now 79 Institutes from 19 Countries LHCb Physics: LHCb papers • Large variety of Physics topics: not only beauty & charm, electroweak, heavy-ion, fixed target etc.. • 431 papers in total, • 19 with the Editorial board • about 35 under review

• Violazione di CP nei decadimenti B0(s) àhh (h=p,K) D. Fazzini, et al. Misura parametri di violazione di CP da fit della distribuzione del decay-time di eventi flavour-tagged. Fit simultaneo a Kp, pp, KK. • Analisi su dati RUN 1 completa ( Sumbitted to PRD) >4s CPV in Bs • Analisi Run2 in corso
• Test di universalità leptonica nei decadimenti semileptonici bàcln: R(D(*)) M.Calvi, S.Meloni, et al. Universalità degli accoppiamenti ew alle diverse famiglie di leptoni, accidentale nel MS, messa in dubbio dalle misure alla Y(4S) e LHCb. R(D+) = B(B0àD+tn) / B(B0àD+µn) Misura simultanea di R(D+) e R(D*) con D*0àD-p0 Usa tàµnn. • Analisi su dati RUN 2 in corso.
• Misura di |Vub|/|Vcb| da Bs àKµn M.Calvi, et al. Vub è il parametro della matrice CKM meno noto fino ad ora. Si misura il branching fraction di Bs àKµn rispetto Bs à Dsµn RFF = ratio of form factors calculated using LQCD Analisi iniziata a Milano, in collaborazione con Edimburgo e Heidelberg. In finalizzazione.
LHCb Upgrade • Comprehensive Upgrade to be ready for Run 3, main focus of the Collaboration • Instantaneous luminosity to be increased by a factor five • Full-detector read-out at 40 MHz • Production and installation almost all on-track • Ongoing effort to have full software trigger at 40MHz. • “Upgrade Software and Computing” TDR released • Working on computing model (document for 2018 Q3)
CERN/LHCC 2017-0xx LHCb EoI xx February 2017 Beyond the LHCb Phase-1 upgrade LHCb LHCb Upgrade II EoI UPGRADE II Expression of tInterest • EoI sumbitted in February 2017 Expression Of Interest by the LHCb Collaboration to the LHCC, for an experimental programme going beyond the CERN/LHCC 2017-0nn Opportunities in flavour physics, and beyond, in the HL-LHC era current LHCb Phase-I Upgrade plan, aiming at a fuller Expression of Interest exploitation of the Flavor physics potential of the HL-LHC. • Feasibility studied by LHC Accelerator Division CERN-ACC-NOTE-2018-0038: “A range of potential solutions for operating LHCb Upgrade II as a luminosity of up to 2 x 1034cm-2s-1 and permitting the collection of 300 fb-1 or more at IP8 during the envisaged lifetime of the LHC.” • Physics case: LHCb document ready (under review), to be presented to LHCC in September. Several talks at the “2nd Workshop on the Physics of HL-LHC and perspective of HE-LHC” 18-20 June 2018
Timeline • Upgrade II: Install in LS4 after Upgrade I, aim to integrate ~300 fb-1 within a couple of LHC runs. Some detector improvements could be already installed in LS3, taking advantage of very long shutdown (Upgrade Ib) • Run3 à ~ 25 fb-1 • Run4à ~ 50 fb-1 • Run5 à ~ 300 fb-1 ?
