Definitions of the Month: Known or Virtually Certain- The standard for deciding what happened to a Player’s ball – for example, whether the ball came to rest in a penalty area, whether it moved or what caused it to move. Known or virtually certain means more than just possible or probable. It means that either: There is conclusive evidence that the event in question happened to the player’s ball, such as when the player or other witnesses saw it happen, or Although there is a very small degree of doubt, all reasonable available information shows that it is at least 95% likely that the event in question happened. “All reasonable available information” includes all information the player knows and all other information he or she can get with reasonable effort and without unreasonable delay. Stroke The forward movement of the club made to strike the ball. But a stroke has not been made if the player: Decides during the downswing not to strike the ball and avoids do- ing so by deliberately stopping the clubhead before it reaches the ball or, if unable to stop, by deliberately missing the ball. Accidentally strikes the ball when making a prac- tice swing or while preparing to make a stroke. The Player’s score for a hole or a round is described as a number of “strokes” or “strokes taken,” which means both all strokes made and any penalty strokes. Golf Shop News A LETTER FROM THE GROUNDS DEPARTMENT Dear LCC Members, While golfers are never happy to be hitting out of a bunker, we are sure the membership is excited to reap the benefits of our new bunkers if they do find themselves in these hazards. As we near the end of a major bunker renovation, these are some noteworthy items for all to keep in mind. As we continue to work the sand around in the new bunkers, the biggest improvement that the membership should expect to see is playabil- ity. The more recently completed bunkers will take more time to achieve the consistency we are looking for. This is due to the sand being needed to be worked around as they are finished. Very soon we expect the Sean Gregson swing you will make on #3 bunkers this year will be the same as #14, as opposed to years past. Having gone through all the drainage on the bun- Senior Assistant Golf kers, installing the Cap Con or sod liners, and doing some reshaping of Course Superintendent 610.967.4643 areas that would normally washout, will also allow the bunkers to be gregsonturfgrass@gmail.com playable in a more timely manner following major rain events. In the past, following these events there would be multiple days spent fixing the washouts. The process we have gone through during this renovation will allow the bunkers to remain intact and be worked on by the grounds department much quicker. Aesthetically speaking, perhaps the biggest change you will notice is that the sod around the bunkers edge is laid over the lip. This is done to not only preserve the integrity of the bunker as a whole, but also prevent any contamination of soil or rocks migrating into the new sand. Lastly, keep an eye out for the new collar expansions on #3 and #17 that will allow you to get a little more creative with your approach shot into the green. We are looking forward to seeing you all out there this summer and are hoping for a great 2022 golf season! Thank you, Sean Gregson Lehigh Express April 2022 15

The Club has been busy throughout the month of March, with Cornhole Tuesdays, lots of practicing golf in the Simulator room and the return of many social events.
