Golf Shop News A LETTER FROM THE GROUNDS DEPARTMENT Dear LCC Members, For those of you I have not had the pleasure to meet, my name is Sean Gregson and I started as the Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent a little over a year ago. My career has taken me from Florida, to Wyoming, and most recently for the last four years, Pennsylvania. I’ve been blessed to work on, as well as walk some absolutely amazing properties. There are places like Somerset Hills, Merion, Sleepy Hollow that I place in their own category, “special”. Coming back to Lehigh the day after a recent trip to one of these places, made me really realize that this place is pretty special as well. Flynn used this piece of land like an art canvas to paint 18 amazing golf holes that I now get the pleasure to be on and help maintain on a daily basis. That being said, without great Sean Gregson membership and staffing, Flynn’s prized art would be lost to the fields. A big thank you to everyone for their own part in keeping Lehigh special Senior Assistant and a great place to work at! Grounds Superintendent 610.967.4643 gregsonturfgrass@gmail.com What’s going on around the property? If you’ve missed it, a ton of work around the racquet facilities has been recently completed. On our end, a new walkway was put in from the east lot, existing walkways painted, updated landscaping and flowers, and a third of an acre was stripped, prepped, and sodded. Even if you’re not a racquet player, the next time you slice one on 9, swing by and take a peek. On the course itself the summer grind continues, and it has been an in- teresting weather pattern to say the least this year. While there were times we would have liked to see less moisture and humidity (Member- Guest), overall the course has held in there strongly so far throughout its most susceptible time of the year. Something everyone can do to help out during these strenuous summer months is to be mindful of scattering their cart traffic as they make their way around the course. One area in particular we are starting to see wear damage is where the dew paths tie into the fairways. If heavy traffic areas like these can be slightly avoided it will give them time to recover during these crucial months. I look forward to meeting more and more of you as time goes on. I’m usually in a red electric cart with a blue hose in the back. Please feel free to stop by and say hello! Thank you, Sean Gregson Sean Gregson Lehigh Express August 2021 9

Swimming Pool News A LETTER FROM THE POOL DIRECTOR Dear LCC Members, July was a banner month at the Pool. Our LCC Lightning Swimmers and Divers went 3-1 in regular competition, then hosted BCC and SVCC in a Tri Country Club Relay meet that was spectacular. The Pool also played host for the 2021 ABE Diving Championship. As we move into August, the Pool looks forward to the return of Family Camp Out for 2021, even as we bid farewell to our departing guards returning or for the first time going to college. Racquets News A LETTER FROM THE RACQUETS DIRECTOR Dear LCC Members, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. As you all know that we had lot of improvements at racquets this season. The four new pickleball courts were built, and the ribbon cutting was held on July 23rd. The whole landscape was improved and the entrance to the racquet’s facility looks great. I want to thank Jen Felegy, John Chassard, Mike Thompson, Kathy Thompson, and Ken Duerholz for all their help in making the project a big success. This year the Third Annual Lehigh Open will be held from August 16th to August 21st. Matches will start at 5 pm Monday through Friday, and on Saturday the finals will start around 11 am. This tournament has picked up lot of momentum, and last year we saw players from top Division 1 Ari Datta college such as Ohio State and Pepperdine University participate. This Racquets Director year we plan to have lot of up-and-coming professional tennis players as 610.434.7884 well as highly ranked college tennis players participate. Complimentary ari@lehighcc.com food, wine and beer will be served for all members from Tuesday through Saturday. Both pickleball and tennis have been going on at full capacity. Club News A LETTER FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear LCC Members: Welcome to August! The summer is in full swing and we want to end it by continuing to provide a great member experience. In July, we had a successful 4th of July Picnic and the Member Guest Tournament went extremely well. Wear White, Drink Pink was a success, as always! Next week, brings our Lehigh Invitational Tournament. (Thursday 8/5- Saturday 8/7) New this year! The restaurant will be open on Stag Night Jennifer Felegy and the Saturday Awards reception. Ala carte seating will be limited to the Flynn Grille and Mixed Grille. Reservations highly suggested. General Manager 610.433.7443 X. 228 jen@lehighcc.com You may have noticed we are trying to improve communication with the membership. We are sending biweekly emails with menus and up coming events. Another way to communicate is via text message. If you would like to sign up for text alerts, please contact Amanda at amanda@lehighcc.com. The terrace has been busier than ever! Of course, we strive to meet all members requests. This being said it is important to mention that while you may request a certain table for lunch and dinner we cannot 100% guarantee that table. Please be understanding that our team does the best they can to accommodate all members. A reminder to the golfers who may enjoy a cigar on the course. There is no smoking permitted in the rest rooms or in the inside porch of the halfway house. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Look forward to seeing you around the Club soon! Sincerely, Jen General Manager Lehigh Express August 2021 23
Club News A LETTER FROM THE MEN’S LOCKER ROOM Summer is not over yet! Near the end of the month I lose availability of some staff, but not before we get through the Lehigh Invitational. Speaking of the Invitational - I’ll need 72 lockers to accommodate the guests. If by chance you prefer I do NOT use your locker for a tourna- ment guest, please let me know ASAP. I choose 72 lockers of members I think will not use their locker from August 4 evening through August 7, possibly August 8 if the tournament uses the rain date. Contents are carefully labeled, removed, kept safe and returned at the conclusion of the tournament, normally Saturday evening. The locker room will look like it did before the tournament began by Sunday morning if all goes well. Please call or email me if you have any questions. Ivan Fenstermacher Men’s Locker Room ‘Welcome!’ all new members to Lehigh, especially the members I have 610.435.5311 not met yet! I know being on a wait list is a little inconvenient for the 6 + menslockerroom@lehighcc.com men, so far, on that list for a locker, but please remember how well this reflects on the health of your club. Lockers… as I mentioned above, I need lockers for new members. I have contacted a few of the locker holders regarding the status of their locker, and have heard back from just one member. Please let me know if you no longer need your locker. And yes, new name plates should be coming in soon, maybe on the lockers by the time you read this. If you see lockers that do not have name plates, they will soon! Please remember the Men’s Lounge is a great place for a quiet and quick lunch. Ok, Friday afternoons and weekend lunches are not quiet, but we try to be quick! Reservations are not necessary. By the middle of this month, we will be moving toward an 8pm closing time rather than 9pm, only if there is no business. We will always stay later if we have business. I look forward to seeing you at the Club in August! Thank you, Ivan Fenstermacher Men’s Locker Room Lehigh Express August 2021 24
