Art for Heroes The COVID-19 pandemic has created many hardships for everyone to overcome. However, it has also allowed many of our community’s heroes to shine. Essential workers of every type, such as healthcare providers, emergency responders, law enforcement officers, grocery store and pharmacy staff, manufacturers of essential goods, military personnel, truck drivers, and many others, have risked everything to continue supporting our community’s needs. To show our appreciation for these community heroes, there is a special art activity included in our Summer Learning Challenge. Create art celebrating our community heroes, incorporating a heart or hearts into it in some way, as well as the words, “Thank you, community heroes!” There is no limitation on the type or art. Drawing, coloring, murals, collages, mosaics, sidewalk chalk, music videos, or whatever other form of art catches your fancy — it’s all good. Put your finished art badge somewhere highly visible, where our community heroes can see it, and then take a photo or video showing your art and share it with us on Facebook or Instagram, with the hashtag #BCPLSummerLearning. You will earn twenty points in the Summer Learning Challenge for this activity, and you will also earn the Art for Heroes badge. Happy creating!
