Kangaroo Island 6 Day Tour Itinerary Sunday 3 – Friday 8 April 2022 DAY 1: Sunday 3 April Melbourne to Naracoorte Welcome to our 6 Day Tour to South Australia’s Kangaroo Island. After we have loaded the coach and completed our passenger pick up service we are ready to go! Sit back and enjoy our service and facilities aboard our touring coach as we make our way to Ballarat and then Hamilton via the Southern Grampians for a lunch stop before heading to Naracoorte for our overnight stop. Kangaroo Island 6 Day Tour DAY 2: Monday 4 April Naracoorte to Kangaroo Island After a hearty breakfast we depart Naracoorte where it will take us just over 5 hours to travel to Cape Jervis at the foot of the Fleurieu Peninsula – the departure point for the Sealink Ferry Service to Kangaroo Island. We will stop along the way for a lunch break at Tailem Bend (own expense) before arriving in time for the late afternoon ferry service. The ferry takes just 40 minutes to complete the crossing to Penneshaw. Once the coach is unloaded from the ferry, we head to Kingscote for our next 3 nights’ accommodation as we get set to explore the magnificent Kangaroo Island. ACCOMMODATION Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kingscote MEALS Breakfast and dinner at Hotel, lunch at own expense DAY 3: Tuesday 5 April Exploring Kangaroo Island Seal Bay and the Flinders Chase National Park are the two major wildlife areas that we have planned to visit today. Our locally based guide will join us on the coach for the next two days as we make our way to the famous Seal Bay for a chance to walk on the beach amongst the colony of Australian Sea Lions who live here all year round. It truly is an unforgettable experience as we are guided by a National Parks Ranger along the beach, within metres of the bulls, cows and sea pups as they rest on the beach. Departing Seal Bay we then head towards the south western end of Kangaroo Island with a stop for lunch along the way. This afternoon we visit the Flinders Chase National Park and witness the postcard perfect Remarkable Rocks, Cape du Couedic and Admirals Arch where, via a spectacular board walk, we can see close up a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals who live in the sea and the rocks just below us. At Rocky River we should see plenty of Cape Barren Geese and maybe a Tamar Wallaby or two. ACCOMMODATION Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kingscote MEALS Breakfast and dinner at Hotel, picnic lunch provided
Kangaroo Island 6 Day Tour DAY 4: Wednesday 6 April Natural produce After our breakfast this morning we travel to Clifford’s Honey Farm where we uncover the secrets of, and taste of their delicious honey ice-cream, made from the unique Ligurian bee found only on Kangaroo Island…. yum! Next, we head to the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, to learn all about this uniquely Kangaroo Island operation. Eucalyptus Oil distilling was once one of Kangaroo Islands major industries, commencing in the 1880s, it was often a supplementary income for the farmers clearing their land for sheep farming. In the 1930s it reached its peak with 48 stills employing over 600 people, we will also enjoy our lunch here today. This afternoon, we get up close and personal with some of the world’s most majestic creatures at Raptor Domain. Put on a glove and have one of the many birds fly to you or possibly experience the power of holding a Wedge-tailed eagle. After being in awe of these magnificent birds we head back to our motel for our last night on Kangaroo Island. ACCOMMODATION Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kingscote MEALS Breakfast and dinner at Hotel, lunch at Emu Ridge DAY 5: Thursday 7 April Kangaroo Island to Tailem Bend After a leisurely breakfast we make our way back to Penneshaw this morning to connect with the mid-morning ferry service to Cape Jervis. Once back on the mainland, we drive across the bottom of the Fleurieu Peninsula to the seaside resort of Victor Harbor, or ‘Victor’ as the locals call it. During the mid-1900s there were three whaling stations here with an estimated 400 southern right whales arriving into Encounter Bay each season. We have some time to purchase lunch, take a look through the Whale Centre and perhaps hop aboard the horse-drawn tram and head over to Granite Island (own expense). Departing Victor Harbour this afternoon our journey sees us travelling through the small town of Goolwa where the mighty Murray River meets the Southern Ocean before arriving at Rydges Pit Lane Hotel at the Bend Motor Sport Park for our final night of the tour. ACCOMMODATION Rydges Pit Lane Hotel, Bend Motorsport Park MEALS Breakfast & dinner in Hotel, lunch at own expense DAY 6: Friday 8 April Return to Melbourne Having enjoyed a sensational few days on Kangaroo Island and the southern region of South Australia, we pack our bags and board the coach for our journey home. We provide a chauffeured pick up from Melbourne airport to your hotel, and return service for Deposit required by: 18 Feb 2022 passengers travelling from interstate, and we provide a V/line credit for Victorian regional passengers.
