DAY 2: Monday 4 April Naracoorte to Kangaroo Island

After a hearty breakfast we depart Naracoorte where it will take us just over
5 hours to travel to Cape Jervis at the foot of the Fleurieu Peninsula – the
departure point for the Sealink Ferry Service to Kangaroo Island. We will stop
along the way for a lunch break at Tailem Bend (own expense) before arriving

DAY 3: Tuesday 5 April Exploring Kangaroo Island

Seal Bay and the Flinders Chase National Park are the two major wildlife
areas that we have planned to visit today. Our locally based guide will join us on
the coach for the next two days as we make our way to the famous Seal Bay
for a chance to walk on the beach amongst the colony of Australian Sea Lions
who live here all year round. It truly is an unforgettable experience as we are
guided by a National Parks Ranger along the beach, within metres of the bulls,
cows and sea pups as they rest on the beach.
Departing Seal Bay we then head towards the south western end of Kangaroo
Island with a stop for lunch along the way. This afternoon we visit the Flinders
Chase National Park and witness the postcard perfect Remarkable Rocks,
Cape du Couedic and Admirals Arch where, via a spectacular board walk, we
can see close up a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals who live in the sea and
the rocks just below us. At Rocky River we should see plenty of Cape Barren
Geese and maybe a Tamar Wallaby or two.

                         ACCOMMODATION Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kingscote

MEALS Breakfast and dinner at Hotel, picnic lunch provided

DAY 4: Wednesday 6 April Natural produce

After our breakfast this morning we travel to Clifford’s Honey Farm where
we uncover the secrets of, and taste of their delicious honey ice-cream, made
from the unique Ligurian bee found only on Kangaroo Island…. yum! Next,
we head to the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, to learn all about this
uniquely Kangaroo Island operation. Eucalyptus Oil distilling was once one of
Kangaroo Islands major industries, commencing in the 1880s, it was often a
supplementary income for the farmers clearing their land for sheep farming. In
the 1930s it reached its peak with 48 stills employing over 600 people, we will
also enjoy our lunch here today. This afternoon, we get up close and personal
with some of the world’s most majestic creatures at Raptor Domain. Put on
a glove and have one of the many birds fly to you or possibly experience the
power of holding a Wedge-tailed eagle. After being in awe of these magnificent
birds we head back to our motel for our last night on Kangaroo Island.

DAY 5: Thursday 7 April Kangaroo Island to Tailem Bend

After a leisurely breakfast we make our way back to Penneshaw this morning to
connect with the mid-morning ferry service to Cape Jervis. Once back on the
mainland, we drive across the bottom of the Fleurieu Peninsula to the seaside
resort of Victor Harbor, or ‘Victor’ as the locals call it. During the mid-1900s there
were three whaling stations here with an estimated 400 southern right whales
arriving into Encounter Bay each season.
We have some time to purchase lunch, take a look through the Whale Centre
and perhaps hop aboard the horse-drawn tram and head over to Granite Island
(own expense). Departing Victor Harbour this afternoon our journey sees us
travelling through the small town of Goolwa where the mighty Murray River meets
the Southern Ocean before arriving at Rydges Pit Lane Hotel at the Bend Motor
Sport Park for our final night of the tour.

region of South Australia, we pack our bags and board the coach for our
journey home. Stopping for lunch and breaks we should be back in Melbourne
