Who are Global Adventure Challenges? • GAC have been operating charity challenges for almost 20 years • We have worked alongside over 1,500 different charities and have helped raise in excess of £30 million through the provision of overseas challenges • Currently operating in over 36 countries worldwide • Fully bonded through CAA – ATOL 6506 (Civil Aviation Authority/Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing)
Challenge Highlights ⦿ Explore the world’s most famous desert guided by traditional berbers ⦿ Summit the Chigaga Dunes – the largest in the Sahara Desert ⦿ Watch the sunrise over the desert – once in a lifetime experience ⦿ Sleep under a blanket of stars ⦿ Explore the lively city of Marrakech before returning home
The Challenge – Day 1 Key points (Depart UK) ⦿ Depart UK for flight to Morocco (times TBC); ⦿ Upon arrival transferred to hotel in Ouarzazate (South of the High Atlas mountains) ⦿ Dinner and early night.
Challenge – Day 2 Key points (M’Hamid to Bougharn Dunes) ⦿ Very early breakfast and then transfer from hotel and set off for the desert; ⦿ Driving route along Draa Valley @4 hours drive to M’hamid; ⦿ Set off on trek (2 -3 hours trek) ⦿ Finish at camp for the night in the Bougharn Dunes.
Challenge – Day 3 ⦿ Set off trekking (6 -7 hours) through the Dunes (no path to follow as continually change in the wind); ⦿ Camels will lead the way and Seche (headscarf) will be provided to protect from wind driven sand. ⦿ Towards end of trek we will hopefully visit the nomads’ encampment. ⦿ Tonight’s camp is at foot of the stunning Chigaga Dunes.
Challenge – Day 4 Key Points (Chicaga Dunes to Erg Aghoual) 7/8 hours trekking. ⦿ Set off on trek (2 -3 hours trek) ⦿ Finish at camp for the night in the Bougharn Dunes. ⦿ Very early start before the sun rises - then commence climb up Chicaga Dunes (climb will be in the dark but the stars and moon will light the way). ⦿ Upon reaching the top we will rest to watch the sunrise over the Sahara. We will then head back to camp for breakfast. ⦿ After a short rest, the trek will continue towards the camp of the night - Erg Arghoual
Challenge – Day 5 Key Points - Erg Aghoual to Ouarzatate ⦿ Following breakfast, we push towards end of trekking challenge ⦿ Short walk to transport at Sidi Ab Nbi (2 hours ⦿ Transfer back to hotel ⦿ Evening time - toast achievements with celebratory dinner.
Challenge – Day 6 Key Points ⦿ Early morning transfer to Marrakech ⦿ Afternoon to explore the city before evening flight back to UK (TBC) ⦿ Flight from London to Belfast (TBC)

Challenge Grading Scheme Key Points ⦿ Challenges are graded on a scale of 1 to 3 to indicate level of difficulty ⦿ 1 being the lowest and 3 the most challenging ⦿ 1 = challenging, 2 = tough and 3 = extreme ⦿ This challenge is rated 1.
Specialist Kit ⦿ Global adventure challenges will supply an extensive kit list when you register. ⦿ Best advice I can give is have a good pair of hiking boots that are well broken in (and they should be from your training!!!) ⦿ Other things like hand sanitizer, toilet roll, baby wipes, dry shampoo and immodium are all essentials!!
Sponsorship ⦿ £175 registration fee/£2000 minimum sponsorship. ⦿ Registration cut off point – As an open challenge no cut off point ⦿ Fundraising targets (will be strict or place will be lost) ⦿ Provide help and support with branded letters/pop ups/flyers etc. ⦿ Important to plan and let us know dates as will have to plan for use of fundraising items etc. ⦿ Personalised fundraising plan for each participant.
Fundraising Tips ⦿ Start sooner rather than later!! ⦿ Just Giving Page - online is so much easier for people to donate ⦿ Use your hobbies and your network - Get family members/colleagues/friends/the gym you go to/your local corner shop/your hairdresser involved! There is so much help around you so utilise it!!! ⦿ Remember people can only say no!! So don’t be afraid to ask for help/donations/raffle items etc! ⦿ Support – personalised plan/marketing items/flyer design/social media sharing/advice etc. (Participants must book their own venues/activities etc.)
