for each scholarship they are eligible for. Incomplete applications cannot be considered! Double check that
you are submitting the following:

   4. Proof of residence in the Homer area (Icicle only). For example, a bill with your name and address,

submit their final high school transcripts. (Icicle only).

Personal Essay
Answer the three questions below using 300 words or less for each question. Remember to
include your name and student identification number at the top of the page. The scholarship selection
committee will read and evaluate your answers when selecting scholarship recipients. The more information
you provide, the better the scholarship committee will be able to evaluate you as a scholarship candidate.
   1. Describe your educational goals both long term and for the upcoming semester.
   2. Explain why you are applying for this scholarship (or tuition waiver) and how receiving it will help you
      achieve your goals.
   3. Tell us anything else that you would like the committee to consider when reviewing you as a scholarship
candidate. This could include things like your financial situation, your family, honors and awards you
have received, challenges you face or have overcome, personal accomplishments or anything else you
      believe is relevant.
Essay Writing Tips
Personal essays should be positive and upbeat, while clearly outlining goals and career choices. Try and grab the attention
of the committee with a personal story and then tell us why we should choose you instead of someone else. Take a draft to
the KBC Learning Resource Center and ask for feedback! Give the committee an idea of who you are and a reason to
select your application over others!
Include the following:

             Who you are now
 Who you want to be (future goals)
             Why you are applying
 How you will use the award
 Special circumstances you would like the committee to consider
