The SWRHA thanks the Rotaract Club for their generosity. Couva District Health Facilty hosts Christmas Treat for Paediatric Clients Southern Pride Newsletter January 2021 Issue O ver 50 children who visited the Couva Primary Healthcare Services on December 16th, 2020 received a surprise Christmas present, from the kind-hearted staff at the Couva District Health Facility. The staff raised funds to bring some cheer during this festive season. The SWRHA will continue to promote 5 care, compassion and competence to all clients. Un i v e r s al C h i ld r e n ’ s Day T he South-West Regional Health Authority commemorated Universal Children’s Day on Southern Pride Newsletter January 2021 Issue November 20th, 2020 by recognising the 1 universal rights of all children to receive love, education, protection, medication, good healthcare, recreational time and shelter. This year’s theme, “The Right of the 2 Child’ showcased beautiful displays, created by the staff on the Paediatric Wards. Staff from Nutrition and Dietetics Department and Paediatrics distributed goodies, lunch and gifts to all the children on the wards on 6 this special day.

Southern Pride Newsletter January 2021 Issue Excellent Service at Marabella Health Centre On Friday I went with my family to the Marabella Health Centre for the flu vaccine. For the four of us it took about one hour. From Wednesday when we called inquiring about the vaccine to today when we got it, the staff was pleasant, professional and attentive. As far as I can tell everyone was treated in this manner. Keep it up we appreicate it. My thanks to the staff of the Health Centre and to all the other 8 frontline workers. Karl Narine

T he SWRHA commemorated World Diabetes Day on November 14th, 2020. The theme ‘Nurses make the difference for Diabetes’ highlighted the important role nurses play in the prevention and management of the disease. La Romaine Health Centre staff celebrating World Diabetes Month Diabetes education through competition To mark the occasion of World Diabetes Day at the SFGH, the Community Liaison Unit in conjunction with the Patient Education and Counselling Centre held 2 competitions: Puzzle and Scrabble and Staff of the Pleasantville Health Centre holds the World Diabetes Day Banner Extempo Christmas Jingle Music Video - Diabetes, Coronavirus and the Nurse. These competitions focussed on the 2020 theme: Diabetes, Nurses Make the difference, a tribute to the critical role of nurses in patient care. They also promoted the ideology that the fight for good health starts with personal responsibility.
