CITIZENS + INFORMATION = ACCOUNTABILITY JANUARY 2019 ISO Reviews and Home Insurance Rates An ISO (Insurance Services Office) review is a four to six month process. King George County started the process on December 12th 2018. The last ISO review occurred in 2013 and should recur on a five year basis. At the end of the review, insurance companies will adjust their rates according to the results. Here’s how it works: In these reviews conducted by the Insurance Services Office (ISO), figures are put forth which are used by most insurance companies to determine the rates for homes and businesses within King George County. Some of the examinations include: 1) Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS) which is used to review the community’s ability to combat fires. CITIZENS + INFORMATION = ACCOUNTABILITY JANUARY 2019 Happy New Year I hope you all are enjoying the Christmas Season and have enjoyed the coming of the New Year. I know it is cliché, but a New Year is a new opportunity for change—hopefully for the better. Perhaps this year, we should treat every day as a new start. Instead of just being present, let us really live in the community around us. Instead of going through the motions of our day to day life, simply because it is a habit, let us challenge the status quo to be better, stronger and smarter. Maybe Mother Teresa said it best, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We only have today.” Now, the present, is the only time you currently have to speak your voice and to make a change. If you don’t use your time now, when will you have another chance? Our time is on loan and the future is never guaranteed. We only have this moment—let’s make the most of it. “Trust between people in an organization allows for difficult conversations that bolsters commitment and accountability which leads to faster and better quality results.”
