A Message From The Chairman Dear Fellow Members, I hope that you and your families are safe and well. 2020 is not a year that anybody would wish to en- dure again, but as I write there is light at the end of a very long dark tunnel with the development of a vaccine for this terrible pandemic, which is being given for the first time today, so that hopefully, by Spring 2021, we will all have received it, life can go back to normal and we can meet up and socialise with family and friends again. Andy, our Rally Secretary, has done a sterling job in producing a rally pro- gramme (albeit provisional) for us with some new locations and of course, our old favourite ones as well, but we must bear in mind that there may have to be changes along the way. Sandra and I are so looking forward to resuming our travels in our motorhome again and catching up with all our rallying friends. No National Rally again this year, which is a real shame, but I have no doubt that our proposed get togethers this year will be filled with fun and laughter. The Committee has decided that we will for 2021 continue to again support the Centre`s 2 current charities – Sight for Wight and the Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group. It remains for me to wish you all good wishes for an enjoyable Christmas and I look forward to meeting up with you again on the rally field in 2021. My thanks to all Centre members for their continued support in what has been a very tough year. Safe travels, happy rallying and may the weather always be kind. Your Chairman, Jeff Johnson 3

BOOKING A RALLY Why not try a rally? You don’t know what you’re missing! You will meet like-minded people who have a love of the great outdoors and be part of a social gathering that becomes like an extended family. There may be social activities arranged, but you choose to join in with what you want to, when you want to. We usually meet on a Friday afternoon and leave on a Sunday following “Flag”. (This is the closing bit of the Rally.) You will see from the rally venues what facilities each site has to offer. However it is a requirement to have your own sanitation facility. Go on give it a try! All rallies can be booked on the Centre’s website by providing as much information as possible. 9

THE SOUTH WEST REGION What’s it all about? The Isle of Wight Centre is one of ten Centres that comprises the South West Region. Each of those ten Centres has two representatives that attend the Regional Council once every quarter. The aims of the Regional Council are as follows :- • To represent you, the members, by raising any points of view that you may have at the Club Council • To provide a forum to discuss and solve local problems at regional level It is sometimes necessary to seek advice from the Governance Team or the staff at East Grinstead. This means that every member of the Club can use the Regional Council to access all levels of the Club’s management structure. For more information please visit www.southwestregioncc.org.uk. Your South West Region representatives for 2021 are: Jeff Johnson & David Lumley Thank you to all our advertisers. We really appreciate your support. Please inform them when using their services that you saw their advert in this publication. www.iowcentrecamc.co.uk 19

Could you be a Rally Marshal? So that we may enjoy our rallies to the full we need Rally Marshals to help run them. We hope that the following guidelines will help you to decide that supporting the Centre in this way is well worth doing. If you feel that you can help us in this way, please contact our Rally Secretary, Andy Schofield - rallyseciowcc@gmail.com. Please remember it’s your rally and you can make it as simple or as complicated as you wish. It is not a competition to see who can make the biggest rally. Whatever you plan, you can be assured that the Rally Secretary or any Committee Member will be willing to help and offer any advice that you may need. THE EQUIPMENT Rally signs: These need to be erected as they direct members to the site. Flag and pole: Not always required on a commercial site, but it will help members to find you on a large site. Other signs: Dogs on lead, Rally Office, 5mph, need to be displayed Pitch markers: Normally only required on green field sites where a large number of vans are expected. (6 metres apart) The tea box: Most important, this contains the tea, coffee, teapot kettle, and bell. Some of these items are usually passed from rally to rally but if that has not been possible the Rally Secretary will be holding them. Other items of equipment include the marquee, generator, heaters, urn, and tables. These are stored in the trailer which we can always arrange to be towed to the site. 22
PRIOR TO THE RALLY You will need to acquaint yourself with the site. This will enable you to plan the siting of the vans and know where the fresh water and Elsan points are. When siting vans please remember the 6 metre rule. You will also need to check the tea box for provisions including milk and biscuits, and if you are going to use the generator you will need to check that there is enough petrol. You will be provided with a rally sheet and centre envelopes showing the members attending and the fees they need to pay. If you are not sure how to do the paperwork please ask the Treasurer or any member of the Committee, who will be pleased to help. NOW FOR THE RALLY Arrive in plenty of time to get yourself sited preferably by the entrance to the rally so that people may see you as they arrive, check the equipment, get the signs out, peg the field out if needed and get the flag up. Then make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, whatever you prefer. As members arrive give them your programme for the rally along with the brown envelopes showing them the payment required. Unless you’ve made any special plans for the rally such as competitions, games or any other entertainment, you can now relax and enjoy the rally. At the end, pay the site owner and give the balance of payments collected to the Treasurer, along with any receipts showing what you have spent. FLAG A lot of people are confused by the term Flag, but all it refers to is the closing of the rally. As Rally Marshals you will need to provide tea, coffee and biscuits, thank the people for coming and give out the results of any competitions that you may have run. The Rally Secretary may have something to announce regarding future rallies followed by the Chairman or a Centre Officer thanking you most warmly for organising such a perfect rally. www.iowcentrecamc.co.uk 23

RALLY INFORMATION Rallies take the form of weekend gatherings of both caravan and motorhome owners who have a common interest in their hobby. Members are not organised but are free to relax and join in as they wish. All members are cordially invited to attend any rallies in this booklet or those shown on the Centre website. Rallies can be booked online by visiting the Centre website www.iowcentrecamc.co.uk or by contacting the Rally Secretary - Andy Schofield - rallyseciowcc@gmail.com. Any unavoidable late alterations or cancellations will be notified either by phone or email. Only those that have booked will be notified. Unless otherwise stated rallies will start at 16:00 on Friday and close at 14:00 on Sunday. If you wish to arrive early please check with the Rally Marshals beforehand that it is convenient for them and that they will be available to see you on to the site. As a matter of courtesy and to comply with insurance requirements it is important that rally-goers do not arrive on site prior to the designated time. Please be aware that if, for any reason, you do arrive on site before the Rally Marshals you may be asked to re-site your van. Water will be available on or near the site. However, Members are advised to have an overnight supply on arrival, particularly if arriving late. Your own sanitation will be required at all rallies. Where possible a disposal point will be arranged. You will need to take your dry litter home, including bottles, cans and kitchen waste unless the rally site provides refuse facilities. The speed limit on the rally field is 5 mph. Please watch out for anyone walking or playing between caravans and motorhomes. 26
