HOW TO NOMINATE A ROOKIE FOR THE 2018 DIRT BIKE RIDE Deadline for Rookie Nominations: June 1st In an effort to give some direction on the merits of inviting a rookie, there are a few basic ground rules that have been in place for years. (A) You must be invited by a veteran. The veteran should know enough about his rookie to consider them a positive image of them self, such as personality, riding skills, willingness to help out, the charitable aspect of the event, etc. (B) The fact that the veteran now knows what the C500 is about puts them in a position of trust with the other riders to keep it a class event. Over the past several years the list of rookies has grown in numbers and many of the veterans are concerned with the responsibilities or lack of between their veteran/rookie responsibilities during the event. The C500 has been very fortunate with the class and the quality of people that has been and is now part of the C500 family. And it’s all our responsibility to keep it that way. We are requesting that veterans draw closer to their invited rookies in various ways. Example; if a rookie does not bunk with or ride with their veteran sponsor, it will be required by the veteran to place their rookie with an accepted rider or group that will be responsible for them for that day or beyond. If you ride and bunk together, it is still your responsibility for their actions day or night. This is a golden opportunity to make and meet new and lasting friends. We need everyone’s support to continue the tradition. We do and will have a way to monitor those activities. If you have a rookie under the age of 21 the office needs to approve it, and they must have a valid Motorcycle License. All nominations must be in writing with a brief description (bio) of the rookies riding ability along with their contact information and sent to the Colorado 500 Office before the deadline date June 1st. Veterans may request unlimited rookies; each nomination will be numbered as they arrive. If we receive more than 50 rookie requests, they will be separated into 2 mailings. The first mailing is scheduled June 1st. Next mailing over 50 and up will be mailed on June 7th. Then it’s “first come first serve” until the ride fills up. The ride will be capped at 200 this year so keep in mind the number of spaces is limited, we will not know how many spaces are available for rookies until the veteran deadline. So please sign up soon and get your rookie requests in early! If nominating veteran is unable to attend this year’s event, his nominated rookie(s) will not be allowed to participate unless you have another veteran attending who knows them or is willing to adopt a rookie and accept the responsibility for them as mentioned above. If a rookie receives an invitation and is unable to attend that year’s event and wants to attend the following year, then the nominator must re-submit a new request for their rookie the next year. Thank you, Wally SIGN UP NOW FOR YOUR LOGO OR LISTING ON THE 43RD ANNUAL COLORADO 500 T-SHIRT! Listing $150. / small logo $500. / large logo or sleeve $750.
