CIRCULAR 6 OF 2019
From the Principal’s Office.
Following a very good and successful Second Term, we are all looking forward to the
third term. Thank you to everyone who made the Second Term a success. I believe
that the Frikkie Meyer family is ready for this term and we believe that each learner will
have the opportunity to excel optimally and according to his/ her unique potential.
HFM welcomes Mrs Marlé Jordaan in the place of Ms Milandri Maré who got married
and moved to Pretoria. Welcome also to our student teacher, Miss Chiara Iorio and
good luck with your practical teaching during the third quarter. We wish you everything
of the best and trust that you will be very happy at Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer.
HFM welcomes Mrs Francis Coetzee back after her recent illness.
On a personal level, I would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement
during my knee replacement operation at the end of the second term.
Time does not stand still and this month I celebrate my tenth year as principal of
Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer. Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer is an exceptional community school
and it is a privilege for me to be the principal of this unique educational institution.
I want to thank the community for the support and help given during the past ten years.
I praise the Lord, who gave me the wonderful opportunity to serve as principal of
Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer, with the assistance and support of improving HFM as an
educational institution.
I would like to appeal to every parent/ guardian to please pay school- and hostel fees
faithfully. Thank you to those who have already done so.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer, the
teachers, administrative, support, hostel and terrain staff for the hard work done.
The education and school milieu is not the easiest work environment these days. As
staff members, we do everything within our abilities to make Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer
an island of excellence in a sea where average suffices. Thank you for your support.
We owe it to our children to maintain high standards.
Please study the shortened term program and be part of the HFM family. Parental
involvement is essential to make a success of our school.
Gr 12 Trial Examinations
The trail exams begin on 19 August 2019.
The final National Examination for LO will be written on 2 September 2019.
This will be the final exam for LOGr 9 Subject Choice Parents Evening
This will take place on 14 August at 18:00 in the School Hall. Dr Hennie Swanepoel,
who carried out the test, will be available on 15 and 16 August to provide feedback,
especially for those learners who wrote the comprehensive test. Appointments can be
made by you with Dr Swanepoel himself at 082 566 1652.
Parents Evening Monday 2019
The parents evening will take place on Monday 15 July.
The following teachers will not be available : Mr D Fouché
Mrs E Fouché
If you need to speak to them, an appointment can be arranged for a later date, or you
are welcome to speak to their respective heads of Departments.
Mr D Fouché (Grade 10 – 12 EGD) : Mr H Smith will be available in his office.
Mrs E Fouché (Grade 10 – 12 Mathematical Literacy): Mr T Schmidt will be
available in his office.
Signing out of Learners
We are calling on parent / guardians again to please adhere to the strict procedure of
signing out learners.
1. A written request must be handed in at Mrs J Koen at least two days beforehand.
It is the learner’s responsibility to hand in the request.
2. Mrs M Boshoff wil either grant permission or reject the request.
3. Mrs Boshoff wil then communicate with the head of grade or the grade guardian.
4. If the request is granted, the learner must fetch the letter of permission from
Mrs Koen the day before the learner is to be signed out.
5. Parent / Guardian must report to the Mrs Koen and sign out the learner on the
official document.
6. Learners will only be called before break.
7. The morning of the day the learner is being signed out, the permission slip must
be taken to the head of grade/ grade guardian by the learner to be signed.
8. A copy of the permission slip will then be handed in at the general office and the
original note will be given to the class captain.
9. On Fridays, we have a tremendous problem with parents who sign out learners.
From now on NO learner will be allowed to be signed out earlier on Fridays,
unless a written reason is given.
NO learner may be signed out by another parent / guardian!
This arrangement is a National Law
If a parent must sign out another learner, the parent / guardian of the learner must
give permission in writing. Emails and faxes are not acceptable, as it can easily be
faked.
Parents/ guardians let us work together. Disciplined parents have disciplined
children.Pupil leaving School
It is the responsibility of the parent to inform the school, in writing, when your child is
leaving school.
A form, available from Mrs J Fouché in the general office, must be filled in to indicate
that all textbooks and other school property have been returned.
Lost or damaged property/ textbooks must be paid at the financial office. Proof of
payment must be handed in with the school leaving form.
Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer may charge school fees according to the South African School
Act 84 of 1996: Article 39 of 40 and National Education Policy Act 1996 (no 27 of 1996)
– National norms and standards of School Funding until all textbooks and school
property have been returned to the relevant educators.
