Parent right to Know Information as Required by the Elementary and Secondary Education Assistance (ESEA) [Section 1112(e)(1)(A)] and the Every Student Succeeds Act [Section 1112(e)(1)(A)] Dear Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s): Your child attends Bart-Colerain Elementary, which receives Federal Title 1 funds to assist students in meeting state achievement standards. Throughout the school year, we will be providing you with important information about this law and your child’s education. This letter lets you know about your right to request information about the qualifications of the classroom staff working with your child. At Bart-Colerain Elementary, we are very proud of our teachers, feel they are ready for the coming school year, and are prepared to give your child a high-quality education. As a Title 1 school, we must meet federal regulations related to teacher qualifications as defined in ESEA. These regulations allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this information to you. At any time, you may ask: Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching, Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration. You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications. At this time, all teachers and paraprofessionals who provide instructional support are highly qualified for the jobs that they hold. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) which was signed into law in December 2015 and reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1956 (ESEA) includes additional right to know requests. At any time, parents and family members can request: Information on policies regarding student participation in assessments and procedures for opting out, and Information on required assessments that include o Subject matter tested, o Purpose of the test, o Source of the requirement (if applicable), o Amount of time it takes student to complete the test, and o Time and format of disseminating results. Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals meet applicable Pennsylvania state requirements. If you have any questions about the topics addressed in this letter, please contact Sara Parrish, 717-529- 2181 or Sara_Parrish@solancosd.org Sincerely, Sara Parrish

PTO INFORMATION Welcome Back!! The PTO has been hard at work this summer in conjunction with the teachers getting prepared for this school year. We have been so fortunate to be able to fund many items to help the Teachers so far. At this time, we will not be planning any in person events for the fall. However, you will be receiving race for education information shortly from your learner, as we will get our fundraising efforts under way so we can have an amazing host of spring events in 2021. Race for education is our largest fundraiser of the year. We ask that you work hard to help us at this time, as we need your help more than ever. In the past, we have held large events such as Fall Fest and the reading carnival to name a few. This year we have a new focus on helping our teachers and learners have a safe environment. We also ask for your help because we always need volunteers. You can volunteer one hour or 10 hours a school year, we will take it. We are all in the PTO as parents. You do not have to come to a meeting to show your support to Bart. We ask volunteers to help a teacher when you can or sometimes just to make a poster or help put away tables after an event. We will take any help you are willing to offer and believe me there is a reward also. Anytime I have volunteered for an event, I have found the smiles from the children have been the most rewarding but also the community involvement. I have interacted with several Parents and Grandparents whom were so grateful for fun family time at our activities at our school. We are so fortunate to have a small community but we need many volunteers to help PTO this be successful. Please send an email (subject: please add me) to our PTO email box at BartPTO@gmail.com , so we may add you to the PTO email list so you will be the first to know about PTO activities and events. We do occasionally ask for volunteers if you can help wonderful and if you cannot maybe next time, no hassle I promise. Bart is such a unique school. I love being part of this community and I look forward to an amazing year ahead. We cannot do it without you, so please volunteer or help whenever possible with our fundraising activities this year. Any questions or ideas please email the PTO mailbox. Thank you! Amanda Taylor, Bart-Colerain PTO President
