Happy Summer! As the school year is winding down - or perhaps we should say "logging off" during these virtual school days - summertime is not far behind. Hopefully, there will be even more opportunities opening up this summer for kids to get back to playing sports, going to camps, swimming, and other summertime fun! This school year, 95 of our 104 student nutrition programs served 554,485 meals to 8,100 students during in-school learning. Our emergency food support initiative (Food & Friends at Home) will have provided over 267,400 meals to children and youth who were learning remotely. Details of both the program and initiative will be announced early in September. Thank you for helping to build hope for lifelong change for so many children and youth in our community. Please contact your Program Manager/Director to help with the year-end report.
The SEED’s delivery service of Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services Nutrition Guideline approved products to Food & Friends Programs will continue into the new school year. If you haven't completed this intake form yet, please do. The SEED will issue memberships on a rolling basis and aims to accept orders and deliver to you as soon they are able. The SEED is part of the Guelph Community Health Centre. They believe that everyone should have access to good food in a dignified way. Thanks To Our Supporters We are so fortunate that so many individuals and organizations have helped us bring healthy food to those who are most vulnerable during these difficult times. Centre Wellington (CW) Men Who Care has joined our list of amazing donors with a gift that will provide over 1,225 healthy meals to hungry kids! For their May meeting, CW Men Who Care invited three CW-based charities to make a 5-minute pitch outlining what impact they could make with their donations. After the last pitch, they voted, and we celebrated! We were the successful "pitcher"! The CW Men Who Cares runs a little different than many of the people who care groups. Of the total funds raised by members at each event, 75% go to the winning charity. The other 25% is added to the “CW Men Who Care” Fund at the Centre Wellington Community Foundation. These funds will grow with the other endowed funds and enable granting long into the future. Thanks to all the caring men in Centre Wellington for their support of our Food & Friends program!
