My Dear Parishioners, dignatus es: praesta, quaesumus; ut per eius
Genetricem Virginem Mariam, perpetuae capiamus
You may have heard a beautiful Latin chant gaudia vitae. Per eundem Christum Dominum
after the Communion hymn being sung at every nostrum.
Mass since Easter Sunday. It is called the Regina Amen.
Caeli, or the Queen of Heaven. It is a short Marian
antiphon telling us the joy of the Blessed Mother Happy Easter!
when she knew Jesus was raised from the dead. Her Fr. Monteleone
sorrow was changed into joy. Let Our Lady be a
model for us now and always. May we unite our
sorrows with her as well as our joys. Here is the
antiphon in both Latin and English. When I hear it,
my heart is filled with Easter joy. I pray it does the
same for you.
This is one of four Marian antiphons, with following
versicles and prayers, traditionally said or sung after
night prayer, immediately before going to sleep. It is
said throughout Eastertide. That is, from Easter Day
through Pentecost, the seventh Sunday after Easter.
The Regina Caeli is also said in place of the Angelus
during Eastertide.
