Welcome Run with Dear Runners, Welcome to the 2023 Independence Blue Cross Independence Broad Street Run! This year’s race comes a little earlier than the traditional date of the first Sunday in May, but the nation’s largest 10-mile road race is back and better than ever! After three years of health guidelines in place on race day, the 2023 race will see a return to over 36,000 runners and many of the most beloved Broad Street traditions. Spectators will once again line the course with funny signs and encouraging shouts. Cheer zones with live music will entertain and keep up the energy. Loved ones can once again meet runners at the finish line, where there will be plenty of family-friendly activities. There’s nothing like the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run. It celebrates everything that makes Philadelphia Philly: community, spirit, and a no-quit attitude. The whole city is energized and inspired by you. Thank you to everyone who is participating in this year’s Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run: runners, volunteers, staff, and spectators. We can’t do this race without you! We also can’t do it without our race partner Independence Blue Cross. I want to thank them for their 27 years of support and commitment to making this race a fun, healthy highlight for our city, year after year. For the fourth year, we are also offering a virtual-run option for those unable to join us on race day. I’m encouraging everyone to come out and witness your athleticism, commitment, and tenacity. There’s no better feeling than crossing the finish line, whether it’s your first Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run or your tenth. Independence Blue Cross is proud to sponsor the Good luck and have fun! country’s largest 10-miler for the 27th year in a row. Sincerely, Kathryn Ott-Lovell With the region’s strongest network of doctors and Commissioner hospitals, we’re also proud to help keep you running Parks & Recreation Commissioner and reaching your well-being goals. ibx.com 2023 Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run 3
