Fi Africa 2022 Brochure Fi Africa is the newest member of the Fi Global portfolio, launched in 2021 as part of Africa Food Manufacturing and co-located with ProPak MENA. It is Africa’s dedicated show for food and beverage ingredients sector, offering a 365 marketplace for the African community to interact, network and build knowledge around the latest industry trends through online and physical opportunities. In 2022, Fi Africa will take place from 29-31 May in Egypt, Africa’s largest food and beverage market and the region’s most dynamic consumer goods market. Egypt will be one of the fastest-growing food markets in terms of spending over the medium-term, growing at an average annual rate of 6.5% (in USD terms) over 2021-2024. In local currency terms, spendings in Egypt expected to grow by an average 8.3%. Guide to Fi Africa 2022 2
Fi Africa 2022 Brochure Middle East & Africa Industry Outlook Juices will be the strongest growing category within non-alcoholic drinks in the MENA region over 2021-2025, expanding at an average annual growth rate of 6.5%, driven by consumers increasingly seeking to substitute sugary soft drinks for healthier alternatives. Meat and poultry will continue to play a key role on Kenyan diets over the medium term (2021-2025) with spending growing by an average annual growth rate of 10.5% y-o-y. The meat and poultry category’s spending will account for around 18.0% of total food spending during 2021-2025. From 2021 to 2025, food spending levels in Tunisia are expected to remain relatively constant with an annual average growth rate 4% - 5%. However, Bread, rice and cereals are expected to outperform the sector average. The food spending in Libya to return to positive growth, expanding by a nominal growth rate of 0.1% y-o-y in 2021, from an estimated -0.7% y-o-y in 2020. Basic food stuffs represent the largest share of consumer spending on food in Algeria, with bread, rice, cereals, meat and poultry represent around 40% of total food spending. Fresh vegetables, sugar and sugar products will be the fastest- growing categories over our medium-term forecast period, growing by an annual average of 4.0% y-o-y during 2021-2025.
