HIGH SCHOOL CONNECTIONS The goal of High School Connections is to provide seamless dual enrollment educational opportunities for eligible North Carolina high school students. “It’s college for free,” Autry said. “High School Connections has been a tremendous blessing for us.” - CFHS HSC Parent This is a tuition-free program and is designed to help high school students accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry-level job skills.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN HSC? Qualified NC public, private, and homeschool high school students! What is needed to apply? HSC Application and Enrollment Form. College Transfer (CT) courses: 1. Unweighted high school GPA of 2.8 or higher (or qualifying test scores). Career & Technical Education (CTE) courses: 1. Unweighted high school GPA of 2.8 or higher (or qualifying test scores). 2. For students with a GPA below a 2.8, a Waiver from their high school Counselor.
HOW DOES IT WORK? HSC students use both high school and college courses to fill their schedules. 5H Sections - High School Student Only courses are taken 1:00pm-3:00pm Monday thru Thursday -- during 3rd/4th period Students take 2+ classes a semester : 1 class Monday/Wednesday and 1 class Tuesday/Thursday 3RD & 4TH PERIOD 1ST PERIOD 2ND PERIOD 1PM-3PM 8AM-10AM 10AM-12PM M/W PSY 150 5H01 T/TH ENG 111 5H01 ON Sections - Online/Asynchronous courses available that easily fit your schedules Concurrent Sections - Courses that are available to all FTCC students including HSC, courses follow the FTCC calendar. Course Formats: FTCC provides high school students (1) Face-to-Face (2) Virtual/Synchronous and (3) Online/Asynchronous NOTE: College course grades will be reflected on the high school transcript. Eligible courses shall have a high school weight of one additional quality point. Courses with 1-2 community college credit values will not count as high school course credit.
Academic Program Options Dual enrollment programs allow high school students the opportunity to enroll in courses that provide college credit and high school elective credit. In many cases, students can also earn dual credit - satisfying high school graduation requirements. College Transfer Pathways (CT) Designed for students planning to continue their educational career beyond high school to eventually achieve a Associate's or Bachelor's degree at a community college or university. OPTIONS: Arts Pathway, Science Pathway, and Engineering Pathway (NEW) Teacher Preparation Pathway in Arts and Science Be sure to checkout our program preview nights for more info on CTP! OPTIONS: Business Foundation, Criminal Justice, Culinary, Fire Protection, Horticulture, Graphic Design, Logistics, Nail Tech, Nurse Aid, Plumbing and Welding - and much more!
