Scots College Pipe Band Scholarship 2018 Conditions and Regulations of Scholarships The Board of Governors is offering a scholarship to boys entering the Middle or Senior School at Year 9, 10 or 11. The scholarship is intended for students of outstanding ability. 1. The scholarship awards secondary school academic tuition fee subsidy to the successful candidate. 2. The Scholarship is available to a piper or a drummer and requires a satisfactory level of competence in the practice of piping or drumming. Candidates are also required to sit elementary aural and theory tests. 3. All short-listed applicants will be required to audition. They will also be required to attend an interview with the Principal of the Middle School or Senior School (dependent on year level). The date and time will be advised. 4. The successful candidate will be required to maintain a standard of performance appropriate to his age and experience. He will also be required to show the qualities of character and leadership which will reflect credit on Scots College and the Pipe Band in particular. 5. Awardees will be required to prove their continuing development by sitting Royal New Zealand Pipe Bands’ Association College of Piping or Drumming Certificates (elementary to advanced) each year. 6. The scholarship is reviewed annually. In the case of ongoing unsatisfactory performance the scholarship will be terminated. 7. The Board reserves the right not to award any or all of the scholarships offered if the candidates do not reach the required standard. 8. Successful candidates will be required to conform to the curriculum and rules of Scots College. 9. Scots College is a Presbyterian Church School and a successful candidate is expected to participate fully and willingly in the Christian aspect of its curriculum. 10. The fee for the Scholarship application is $25.00 (GST incl.) per candidate and is to be made payable to Scots College. This fee can be made by direct credit to the College bank account with reference PB Scholarship. The bank account details are ANZ 01 0504 0048892 00 (please advise Sharon Hedges when payment has been made). Cheque and/or cash accompanying the application is also accepted.
