For Your Information: Contents: o Paying School Accounts o Stationery o Devices & Digital Learning - Flyer from Harvey Norman Paying School Accounts: Fees can be paid in a number of ways: Internet/online banking apps– our bank account number is: 01- 0886-0011218- 00 (Use your daughter’s name as reference so that we can identify your payment on our bank statement. If you have two or more daughters, it would be appreciated if you could do separate transactions for each daughter using their first names as reference to identify). Cash or cheque There is No daily EFTPOS or Credit Card facilities available to pay school accounts at Craighead. Regular automatic payments – - Parents are encouraged to consider the automatic payment system. If you wish to take up this option please complete an Automatic Payment form supplied by your Bank. They will then set this up for you or it is possible to set up an AP yourself on some Banking apps. - As a guide, we recommend $130 per week for a daygirl and $340+ per week for a boarder. (This may need to be higher, especially if your daughter is involved in a number of additional activities e.g. rowing.) - Suitable payment frequencies of weekly, fortnightly, four weekly or monthly are your choice. Hand deliver your payment - If you wish to, please bring your account to the Finance Manager, who is located in the downstairs area near the Boarding House entrance. Stationery: Lists for Year groups in 2021: Stationery lists for all Year groups will be available from December 2020 and will be found on our school website www.craighead.school.nz accessed from the “2021 Stationery” link – (large square button, on the home page). Purchasing Stationery options: Buying Online: - The stationery company “Office Max”, has a school stationery purchasing online system and will have our class/subject stationery lists, with prices, entered in their online purchasing programmes in December. - Purchasing items online is sometimes a convenient option for people. At the very least you can compare prices before purchasing. - Instructions on how to access the Office Max website will be printed in our school newsletter before the end of this year and/or the very first newsletter in January. There will also be a link to OfficeMax on the Stationery page of our School website. Local Retail Outlets: In Timaru, Warehouse Stationery will have our stationery class lists, if you choose to purchase items through this store. Specialist Classroom Requirements: If necessary, the teacher in charge will purchase any materials needed and will charge costs back to the students’ account (there are no further admin charges added on top of these items charged to the student’s account).
Devices and Digital Learning: Innovation and collaboration are at the heart of 21st Century learning. Craighead sees the use of portable electronic devices as essential to prepare our students for their entry into the wider world. An important point not to lose sight of is that it’s the teacher, not the technology that makes the difference. Thus the best one to one ‘device’ in the classroom is a great teacher! As a staff, our goal is to increase digital fluency and embed the e-learning competencies across the Craighead curriculum, through investment in staff and student capability. Information Technology at Craighead is designed to complement learning in each curriculum area during your student’s time here, involving research, communications, document creation and file storage. Every student is given a network account and password which provides controlled access to network resources. Access to storage space, an e-mail account, plus access and ability to use any of the networked printers or copiers is also provided at the start of the school year. Whilst the School operates across different platforms dependent on the needs of the occasion, Craighead is primarily a Google School with students and staff using GoogleClassroom as its learning platform and the tools and applications in the Google Suite. For network security, we use an advanced firewall and content filtering system in order to ensure safe internet browsing and fair sharing of the internet bandwidth for all users. Anti-spam filters ensure that only meaningful and appropriate e-mail reaches students’ mailboxes. As a parent it can be hard helping our young people to be responsible digital citizens and netsafe have some great resources to help navigate the minefield. You can also contact your internet provider with advice on how to access parental controls and limit the times when the wireless is able to be accessed. Given recent events and in preparation for anywhere, anytime learning and assessment, we feel that a portable device is an essential piece of equipment for our students. You may already own a device with the following specifications from a previous school and considering that most portable devices have a lifespan of 4-5 years, this may be suitable. We do not believe in specifying a specific brand or device, only one that has the following specifications: JUNIOR & MIDDLE SCHOOL (Years 7-10) SENIORS (Years 11-13) 4GB RAM minimum 8GB RAM 128 GB solid state hard drive i5 processor (minimum) Full size keyboard 256 GB solid state hard drive Windows 10/ macOS 10.15 Full size keyboard 5-8 hour battery life Windows 10/ macOS 10.15 Screen Size: 11.6 inch or larger 5-8 hour battery life Dual Band Wireless Screen Size : 13 inch or larger Microphone and camera Dual Band Wireless SD card slot Microphone and camera multiple USB ports SD card slot protective case multiple USB ports 3 year warranty 3 year warranty insurance is essential insurance is essential We respect that families have different needs, knowledge and experience in this area and so we have engaged Harvey Norman as a local advisor for Craighead families to go to if they need some advice to best suit their needs, with competitive pricing.
