HONEY FESTIVAL Uvalde, TX JUNE PICKS ACROSS THE STATE POWER TO THE POLLINATORS R evered for its honey for more than 100 years, the town of Uvalde at- tracts bee farmers from all over—bringing their hives to benefit from the Huajillo plant of South Texas. On June 14-15, the town premieres a sweet idea that has earned plenty of buzz: the first annual Honey Festival. The festivities kick off with The Hive Jive, a street dance in the town plaza, and continue with lawn games, a poker run, “bee in your bonnet” hat competition, and more. Kids can enjoy fanfare along with educational aspects featuring a bee education and microscope station set up by Texas A&M AgriLife. The pollinator party culminates when one lucky essay competition winner is crowned Honey Ambassador. uvaldehoneyfestival.com A Lasting Impression When impressionist Claude Monet embarked on a new painting style during the last decade of his life, he began to produce increasingly bold and abstract works.
