Essential Skills The Government of Canada has identified essential skills needed for work, learning and life, and as the foundation for learning and development of other skills. Among others, these include reading, numeracy and oral communication. All SAIT Summer Camps have been evaluated for alignment with these skills, and each camp description includes mention of up to three skills on which the camp curriculum and activities will focus, and ultimately enhance. Look for the essential skills section on each camp description in this guide and on sait.ca/summer-camps. Bursary Information SAIT recognizes that financial challenges can impact a child’s ability to explore their interests in summer camps. SAIT has made camp bursaries available to families based on financial need of a one-week camp and one-week of lunch program. Families who would like to send multiple children to camp are able to apply for one bursary per child. For more information on how to qualify, please visit our website. FAQs When do I need to register? • Registration for all camps and the lunch program closes at noon (MST) on the Thursday before camp begins. No late registrations will be accepted. What are the camp hours of operation? • All camps run from 9 am – 4 pm, Monday to Friday (except in the event of statutory holidays). SAIT Summer Camps is closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 and Monday, Aug. 3, 2020. Do you offer before and after camp care? • Yes, SAIT Summer Camps offers complimentary before and after camp care. Before care begins at 7:30 am and after care ends at 5:30 pm. No registration is required, and there are no fees for participating. Please refer to the Policies and Procedures for further details. Do I need to sign my child out each day? • Yes, GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED to sign out campers that are not indicated as self-sign out on the Camper Information and Waiver form. Only the authorized person(s) for pick up listed on the Camper Information and Waiver Form will have the camper released into their care upon presentation of government issued ID. Campers in Grade 1 or 2 are not eligible for self-sign out and must be signed out by an authorized person. When will I receive camp details? • Specific information regarding camper drop-off and pick-up location, dress-code, schedules and field trip information will be sent in a Family Information Package via email the Wednesday before your child’s camp begins. Please ensure your email address is correct upon camp registration as email is the primary method of communication. Will my child participate in physical activity during camp? • Yes, all camps include daily recreational time. Recreational swimming will not be offered in Academic Camps, but will be offered in Trojans Sports Camps. Is there a lunch program? • Yes, you may choose to register for our lunch program at an additional cost. Please refer to page 50 for details. Campers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and snacks to stay fueled throughout the day.
