‘Tails & Tales’ Library Summer Discovery Program Continues with These July Programs YOUNGSTOWN (Update: July 23, 2021/For Immediate Release) - Mark your calendars to attend these July programs at the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County. The Library’s Summer Discovery Program, “Tails & Tales,” promises a summer of fun through July 31. Sign up online at the Library’s website at www.LibraryVisit.org/summer-discovery or through the free “ReadSquared” app available in the Apple app store or on Google Play. See Children’s Author and Illustrator Grace Lin Children that complete our Summer Discovery program this year will be able to attend a virtual visit with award-winning children’s book author and illustrator, Grace Lin. Grace, a Caldecott and Newbery Medal winner, is the author of picture books, early readers, and middle-grade novels and will be discussing her books and answering questions. Zoom, 11 a.m. on Friday, August 6 Special Programs Wicked Women of Ohio with Author Jane Ann Turzillo - Ohio history overflows with tales of women behaving badly. Meet Jane Ann Turzillo, author of "Wicked Women of Ohio," as she shares the true history of these Ohio women and their crimes. Please register with an email address. You will receive a Zoom invitation within 24 hours of the program starting. In the meantime, check out Jane Ann Turzillo's books from the library. Adults Zoom 7 p.m. Tues., July 13 Hits from the Pit: Outdoor Concert with Tyler Guerrieri - Enjoy a chill Saturday morning of live music behind the Canfield Library. Bring your own lawn chairs or picnic blanket and stay for all or part of the two-hours. Social distancing will be observed. Tyler Guerrieri is a graduate of YSU's Dana School of Music with a degree in Music Performance. Tyler can be found entertaining audiences at various festivals, restaurants and private events as a solo performer, and is also the lead guitarist for Youngstown's popular show band, Guys Without Ties. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date concert will be held the following week: same time, same place. Please observe social distancing and stay 6-feet away from others. All ages. Canfield 11 a.m. Sat., July 31 Dr. Dave Whiz Bang Science - Hi Kids! Watch Dr. Dave from Whiz Bang Science do amazing experiments that you can do at home. Listen while he tells you about the scientists that made the discoveries, and then watch him take it up a notch in his Whiz Bang Science Lab for a bigger, louder more exciting
show! Reserve a kit while supplies last. This kit will provide you with some basic materials and information to begin recording your observations and field sketching as you enjoy the summer weather.
