Fayetteville Academy After School Enrichment Programs 2021-2022 • If you would like your child to participate in any of the programs, please complete the online registration form. Program fees are to be paid to the Business Office. You will be invoiced for this fee. Programs are scheduled to begin the week of September 7th, 2021. If you have general questions, please contact Lauren Jenkins or Dawn Burt. If you have questions regarding program details, please contact the instructor of that program. • Please understand that when you enroll in an After-School Enrichment Program, you are committing your child to the entire year. No clubs will be meeting in the month of December. • Maximum capacity for each club varies, therefore registration is contingent upon date of receipt of application. • All program offerings are contingent upon sufficient enrollment and instructor availability. • Refunds are not provided or pro-rated for partial months due to withdrawals. Parents must notify, in writing, the class instructor, Lauren Jenkins (LS Office) and Tina McLaurin (Business Office) of withdrawals prior to the beginning of the month. Withdrawals MUST be received prior to the first of the month or the student will be billed for the entire month of class. • All clubs will be dismissed form the Lower School entrance parallel to Cliffdale Road.

Fayetteville Academy After School Enrichment Programs Program: Art Club- “Big Kids” (1st-5th Grade) Instructor: Laure Reeves Description: Come make fun art projects with Mrs. Reeves! We will do crafts, drawing, painting, clay projects and more. We will have fun being creative and learning lots of interesting new things about art. Come join us for our weekly art party! (Limit: 18 students) **Please send an afternoon snack with your child** Meetings: Mondays- 3:10 - 4:00 in the Lower School Art Room in Tech Building Monthly Fee: $60.00; Supplies included Email: lreeves@fayacademy.org Program: Cupcake Club (PreK-5th Grade) Instructors: Laura Reeves and Grace Lee Description: Come decorate a different cupcake each week with Mrs. Reeves and Mrs. Lee! We will celebrate seasons and holidays… and become little chefs. Best of all, we will get to relax, enjoy our tasty treats, and chat with our friends! We will take little nature walks, look for animal tracks, make crafts, and take part in camping activities. Program: KidSing (2nd-4th Grade) Instructor: DonnaJo Mangus Description: Do you love to sing more than anything? Come join us in song! We will singe all types of music and perform some movements as well. We will have fun while learning new songs and maybe even performing. No group singing experience is required. Do you like crafting gifts for others? If you do, this club is for you! Each week we will do an activity or craft centered around service and kindness. We will make tug toys for the animal shelter, collect pop tabs for Ronald MacDonald House, and make place mats for a local food bank. Program: First Lego League Explore (Any 3rd grader, 4th graders new to FLL) Instructor: Mrs. Reeder Description: FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is one of three divisions of FIRST LEGO League, created to inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through fun hands-on STEAM learning and robotics. Children will build a team model (LEGO WeDo 2.0 and LEGO build) and create a show me poster over the course of the CARGO CONNECT season (September-March/April). At the end of the season, they will share what they have learned either virtually or in-person (subject to change) with the judges and other teams. Once the season is complete, they will continue to meet and enjoy other LEGO themed activities as a group. **Please send an afternoon snack with your child. **Please plan to be enrolled all year as your child will be part of a team. Meetings: Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00, Systel SmartLab Monthly Fee: $60; (includes First Lego League Fee) Email: kreeder@fayacademy.org Program: First Lego League Challenge (4th graders with previous FLL experience, any 5th grader) Instructor: Mrs. Reeder Description: FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge is one of three divisions of FIRST LEGO League, created to inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through fun hands-on STEAM learning and robotics. From September to March/April, teams of students will engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering. Each team will be building and programming a LEGO Education Spike Prime robot and conducting a research project to identify and solve a student chosen, real-world problem related to the theme of CARGO CONNECT. Students will be setting up missions on the field, coding their Spike Prime to solve them and then presenting their real-world solution to the judges. This season students will decide as a team if they will go to a competition in person, virtually or just try out a scrimmage versus another team for fun! Once the season is complete, we will continue to meet and enjoy other robotics activities as a group. **Please send an afternoon snack with your child. **Please plan to be enrolled all year as your child will be part of a team. Program: The League of Extraordinary Readers (4th-5th Grade) Instructor: Sue Mescall Description: Here are some things The League could do! Create book reviews for other students/newsletter form, share and discuss their favorite books, create plays from favorite books/readers theater videos for viewing of school students, emphasize Battle of the Books for members who what to try out, compare books vs. videos, create their own “What happened next?” after the book ends, read a novel together.
