Idle Thoughts By David Patterson, GPR President I have always been drawn to color. As a kid I would burn through a Crayola box of 64 with the sharpener on the side in just a few months. Bright neckties and crazy socks became a signature of some of my more pedestrian corporate outfits over the years. The resurgence of vivid and varied colors in automobile paint choices over the last few years has been a welcome sight. Our beloved Porsche has never been afraid of offering colors that cover the spectrum from traditional to “loud and proud”. The broad color palette makes the hunt for a pre-loved Porsche that much more tedious. Just when you think you have found a model, engine, transmission, and features that represent your dream Porsche, you have to narrow down the color options! Luckily there is a source to assist you in that decision. WWW.RENNBOW.ORG is a PCA sponsored website that has accumulated the largest collection of Porsche images on the web organized by color. Nearly every color that has graced the curves of a Porsche from 1950 to present-day is represented in this fun and informative website. WARNING! Be careful clicking on the link above. You are likely to lose track of time in the Rennbow pool of Porsche colors! Speaking of variety, the Club has been delivering on its promise to make 2021 a year to remember with events and activities almost every weekend. Be on the lookout for even more upcoming opportunities on the road, at the track, behind a table, or in a garage near you. WWW.GPRPCA.COM always has the upcoming events listed. There is sure to be at least one event that catches your attention. As always, my best to you and yours. Stay safe – GO DRIVE! I have many memories of the short cassis sidecars - I will never forget the “speed- rush” running 3” off the track surface. My son Jacob spent a few years watching from the pit walls and developed a love for fast vehicles. From his early teens, he read exotic car magazines, watched car shows, and racing events looking to someday own a supercar of his own. He learned his lessons, saved his monies, and in 2019 purchased a beautiful, very-low-mileage 2014 Panamera Turbo. He was hooked. Jacob then "not so subtly," made it his mission to get me into a Porsche. Over the last year, I've spent time at the racetrack with Jacob as he participated in DE events in his "family-friendly" Porsche. Long story short, I gave in, and with Jacob's help, found a low mileage 2013 Panamera GTS. Other than some minor paint correction, it's in excellent shape, well taken care of, and fast. The Panamera was a one-owner car belonging to none other than Mike Tyson. When I was told by the salesperson that Tyson was the original owner, I had my doubts, but the story was either true or could be true. After reviewing the pics, service records, and speaking to the salesperson, I made a deposit and flew to Henderson Nevada, to see the car and take it for a test ride. I quickly purchased the 8

Porsche first blush Continued from page 8. It was time to start the 1300-mile road trip from Vegas to Omaha with the car in my possession. From the Nevada/Arizona desert to the beautiful scenery in Utah into Denver, the car handled, sounded, and rode as I'd imagined. Simply put, I enjoyed every minute of it. During the drive, Jacob and I joked that no one would be able to pass us on the track if we drove side-by-side (insert big rear-end joke here). To confirm the car was indeed owned by Tyson and his wife, I received the transfer title signed by Lakida Twanique Tyson within one week of returning home with the GTS. If anything, it's an interesting story to share. For now, I’m going to enjoy driving the car but this fall plan on replacing a few trim items and making some paint corrections. As a new PCA and GPR member, I am looking forward to attending events and DE sessions with my Jake. I wonder - can the GTS be as tough on the track as Mike Tyson in the ring? Der Skooner

The following day-to-day account describes our journey across America from the heartland to the Pacific coast. Day One: June 16. Omaha to Springfield. We began the ten-day journey at the route’s original birthplace in Missouri. We reached Springfield during the late afternoon and checked into the Route 66 Rail Haven Motel.
