WPOSC Thrift Shop At almost every base, you will find a thrift shop. They are places where spouses gather and build friendships through the common goal of serving the community. Our Thrift Shop has been a staple of Wright-Patterson since 1972 and serves many roles. It is a place where the base community can purchase, consign, and donate their goods. The funds our Thrift Shop raises go to support local and national communities through the WPOSC’s Welfare Fund. The WPOSC would not have as large of a welfare monetary impact as we do, without all that goes into keeping the Thrift Shop up and running. And last, but certainly not least, our Thrift Shop is a place where spouses gather and connect. Friendships are built while working side by side. If you haven’t had a chance to visit our Thrift Shop, please make sure you do! On behalf of the WPOSC, Thank you Thrift Shop Staff & Volunteers! WPOSC Thrift Shop Volunteers gather to accept consignments, organize sales, grow friendships and support the welfare mission of the WPOSC. Regular Hours Where are we located? She's only here for 18 months while her husband attends AFIT, but so far, she's been loving visiting local coffee spots with other WPOSC Board Members! Her favorite spot in Dayton so far is Melt - She's a sucker for grilled cheese. A fun fact about Taylor is that she played rugby in college. She said she only Taylor McCoy played in one game and it was the most brutal athletic experience of her life. Service Activities Chair At the OSC, she hopes to gain friends, make a difference in the community, and learn from others. Misty has been at WPAFB for almost 8 months, and her favorite spot in Dayton so far is Aullwood Gardens. She is excited to check out the many amazing parks Ohio has to offer. Misty joined the OSC at WPAFB because at her last assignment at Travis, she loved being able to make so many friends so quickly, since she wasn’t living in base housing and she wanted the same experience here. And she got it! From the first OSC Misty Perry social, Misty felt like she had instant friends. Her favorite activities so far are the lunch Reservations Chair bunches because she loves exploring new places to eat with friends, and she can’t wait to enjoy more. Her favorite assignment so far has been Biloxi at Keesler AFB; however, she said that the neatest place they've been stationed was the White House. A fun fact about Misty is that she once sent in a video to be on the reality show, “Big Brother.” She was a server and hula hooped while pouring a beer, telling the producers why they should pick her for the show. At the OSC, she wants to make many new friends, learn a lot, and serve others! Introduce Yourself! Contact the Newsletter Chair by the 15th of October. September 2021 THE WRIGHT WORD | 9
