COVID Health & Safety Guidelines for 2021-2022 School Year

● What is the first day of school for students?
    ○ School will begin on Monday, August 16, 2021.

● Will there be an Open House this year?
     ○ Our Open House this year will be Thursday, August 12 from 3-7 p.m.
     ○ Face masks will be required during Open House.

● What are the requirements for face coverings?
    ○ Current CDC, AAP, and ADH guidelines strongly recommend the use of masks in
indoor settings for everyone over the age of 2.
             ■ Based on these recommendations, and out of concern for our students,
teachers, and staff, Liberty Christian School is requiring the wearing of
masks by all students, teachers, and staff while at school.

● Are there guidelines for face masks worn by students?
     ○ We ask that masks are simple, well-fitted (i.e.-will stay over their nose without
constant need to adjust), and with no extra accessories or decoration that make
masks distracting or difficult for the student to wear.
     ○ Neck gaiters, bandanas, or masks with valves are not allowed as they do not meet
the CDC guidelines for effective mask protection.
     ○ Masks may be any color, but any designs, words, etc., must be appropriate for all
         ages.
     ○ We suggest that parents have multiple masks available for each student, as masks
will need to be washed regularly to remain clean or changed daily if disposable.
● Will Liberty Christian School provide masks for students?
     ○ We are unable to provide masks for each student, so please make sure you have
          masks ready and available.

● How will students socially distance at Liberty Christian School?
Based on current CDC & ADH guidelines:
     ○ Classrooms will be arranged to maximize spacing between teachers and students to
         the extent possible.
     ○ We will continue our adjusted lunch schedules to allow for proper disinfection of
eating areas between groups, as well as our expanded eating areas to allow for
         social distancing.
     ○ We will still have outdoor recess if the weather allows. In the case of a need for
indoor recess due to weather, we will implement social distance measures as
         reasonable.
     ○ Chapel is postponed until further notice. Students will have a Bible lesson in their
classroom as they do each morning.
     ○ Multi-grade activities, such as P.E., Art, and Music are on hold until further notice.
Teachers may choose to do these activities as a single class at their discretion, as
         their schedules permit.
     ○ We anticipate field trips to be limited, or not possible.
     ○ Water fountains will not be available. Students will need to bring their own personal
water bottles daily, and will be allowed to have their water bottles refilled if needed.
LCS will not have water bottles available to give to students.

● Will students and adults be screened daily?
○ Pre-K: temperatures will be taken daily by LCS staff before entering the building,
         based on DHS guidelines.
       ○ K-6th grades: temperatures will be taken by parents every morning before
         arriving at school.

● What are the health policies for the 2020-21 school year?
    ○ Our current health policies are still in effect:
             ■ If a child has evident signs of sickness, such as a fever of 100℉ or more,
vomiting, diarrhea, etc, parents will be called to immediately pick up their
                 child.
    ○ Based on CDC & ADH guidelines, additional policies are as follows:
             ■ If parents cannot immediately pick up their child, LCS will begin calling
individuals on the “authorized pick up” list for that child.
             ■ Students will need to be FEVER FREE WITHOUT THE USE OF
MEDICATIONS for 48 HOURS before returning to school.
             ■ Students will need to be SYMPTOM FREE WITHOUT THE USE OF
MEDICATIONS for 48 HOURS before returning to school.
             ■ We are not able to allow anyone to enter the building if they meet any of the
                 following criteria:
                     ● A temperature of 100℉ or above
                     ● Any signs or symptoms of COVID-19: fever, cough, shortness of
breath, chills, muscle pain unexplained by recent activity, headache,
sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea and/or new loss of taste or smell.
                     ● In the previous 14 days has had contact with someone who has a
                         confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.
                     ● In the previous 14 days has travelled outside of the United States or
to areas within the United States with widespread transmission.
             ■ These policies are not applicable to the guidelines for COVID exposure,
quarantine, or illness. Those cases will follow separate CDC guidelines and
                 recommendations.
    ○ LCS reserves the right to use our discretion regarding the ability of any student to
         return to school.

● What will happen if a student, staff, or faculty member tests positive for COVID-19?
    ○ LCS will be in close contact with ADH and the Arkansas Department of Education
        directly and follow ADH’s guidance.

● What is LCS doing to clean and sanitize within the school?
    ○ Disinfection, sanitation, and cleanliness is, and always has been, a high priority on
our campus.
          ○ Extra time and attention will be given to high-touch surfaces.
          ○ Restrooms will be continuously checked and cleaned.
          ○ Students will be expected to thoroughly wash or sanitize their hands throughout the
              day.
          ○ The entire building will undergo cleaning each evening after school dismissal.

   ● Can parents/family visit the school, classroom, or eat lunch with a student?
        ○ Under current ADH and DHS guidance, visitors will not be allowed in the school
except for essential activity and by appointment only. Please call the school at (501)
268-4848 if you need to set an appointment.
        ○ We ask that visitors who come to the school for a scheduled appointment wear a
            mask at all times.
        ○ Each visitor will be screened before entry to the school:

   ● Can I check my child out of school during the school day?
        ○ Students cannot leave and return to school during the course of a school day,
except for medical or dental appointments only. Students will need to have a
doctor’s excuse/return to school note to be allowed back into school. Pre-K will
also be re-screened upon re-entry to the building.

   ● Can I walk my child into the school?
        ○ No, parents and guardians may not walk a student into the school. We ask that
everyone remain in their car and have their child ready to exit the vehicle when
your car reaches the front door. A LCS staff member will be available to take Pre-K
temperatures before their entry to the building.

We will continue to monitor and follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Arkansas
Department of Health (ADH), and Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
guidelines, and adjust our practices and policies as needed. We will keep our families updated as
this occurs. Please also continue to check our website and social media platforms for updates and
news.

We realize that these are unprecedented and uncertain times, complicated even more by your
concern for your children. Rest assured that we at Liberty Christian School share your concern and
are doing everything possible to protect your children, as well as our staff and faculty. We wish for
everyone to have a safe, healthy, productive school year and we are doing our best to make this
possible.
