Too many people in the world live in poverty – and sadly, many of them right on our doorstep. Just past Australia’s shores, Asia is home to family after family who struggle to afford three meals a day, clean water, safe shelter and even school for their children. Asia is also full of incredible curries – from the Korma Curry of India to the Green Curry of Thailand. By sharing a curry together we can celebrate the vibrancy of these countries while also reaching out to families living in poverty. Every dollar raised will help Opportunity International Australia give families in developing countries the tools they need to work their way out of poverty so they can live safe, healthy lives, send their children to school and create a new future for generations to come. It was a small loan that helped her get started, enabling her to invest in ingredients and appliances. Panchafula’s pappadums have proven so popular that she now employs other women from her community, making between 20-25kg of pappadums a day. She has used her income to provide her family with nutritious food, schooling and medical treatment. “It’s only through this business could I meet all our expenses,” she says. “There have been lots of changes in my life since [the loan].
