Aug 2021 Dental Sleep Medicine Update: Why NOW is the Time to Treat Sleep in Dentistry This course will survey the current landscape of medical and dental treatments for sleep apnea and how health policy, regulatory forces, and economics are making it easier than ever to treat dental sleep medicine in the practice. Mark will cover the traditional four pillars of DSM: screening, testing, treating, and billing as well as share how recent advances in device designs, reimbursements, telemedicine, and research have Mark Murphy, DDS, changed the landscape. Sadly, when the majority reach their golden years, they find themselves financially ill-prepared. Oct Battle of the Kona and Maui Clubs An Evening of Treatment Planning with Dr Sonia Leziy This is a video-enhanced session with Dr Sonia Leziy from our World Treatment Planning Championship Symposium. Sonia has contributed a fascinating case, similar in complexity to the Stefano Gracis case planning session most of you participated in with Compleat Curriculum I. Nov Battle of the Kona and Maui Clubs Decision Making Process to Achieve the Optimum Gingival Design in the Esthetic Zone This presentation will illustrate management of gingival levels through a case presentation. Discussion will address the options and the decision process leading to the final interdisciplinary treatment. It will be a direct continuation of the systematic esthetic checklist we routinely advocate for simplicity and predictability. Dec Speed Dating with the Specialists Back by popular demand . . . Following a speed dating format, this interactive session will give you 20 minutes with each specialist before hearing the gong and moving to the next station. Specialists will share a 5-minute pearl—it might be an interesting article, clinical tidbit, practice management tip, or a new procedure. The remaining 15 minutes will be open for questions and discussions. Mar Understanding the TMJ and Airway The aim of this course is to teach clinicians how to look for diagnostic clues that may indicate the presence of TMD or sleep-disordered breathing in their dental patients. Taught by Dr Dania Tamimi, an oral and maxillofacial radiologist and author of a textbook on the subject, Specialty Imaging: Temporomandibular Joint, the course includes a comprehensive review of anatomy as visualized on CBCT volumes. She will review the growth and development of the TMJ and how dysfunction can change the morphology of the oral and maxillofacial complex, including the airway, and how to diagnose Dania Tamimi, some of these dysfunctions using CBCT. The relationship BDS, DMSc of the TMJs and airway to the occlusion will be discussed in light of bite changes that may affect the final Live Lecture restorative and prosthodontic outcome if undiagnosed. May Better, Faster, Stronger Direct Composites with the Injection Molding Technique Ceramic restorations have long been considered the optimal choice for predictable esthetics and longevity. Bonding has been considered a short-term solution that can be both technically challenging and esthetically unpredictable.
